Deli Kitchen Clerk - Salad Bar
Regular Full Time - $16.50 - $18.50
Shifts: Mid-Shifts (Starting after 10:00am) - Weekends Required
Essential Functions:
- Complete prep work for various areas such as Panini / Sandwich Prep, Packer, Prep Cook, and Salad Bar Productionas well as assemble all other products according to given recipes
- Prepare items to be cooked and cook all items according to recipe and schedule
- Uphold and consistently maintain the highest standards in regards to quality of all foods produces by the Olivers Market Kitchen
- Review, comprehend and follow all daily production sheets
- Wash, soak, cut, peel and chop ingredients by hand or machine
- Process and assemble items according to recipes
- Weigh and package all food products while closely following specifications
- Consistently check and record all food temperatures in proper logs
- Clean and sanitize equipment, work areas as well as safe job areas (floors, work tables, etc.)
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness of all equipment so as to perform daily tasks effectively
Skills & Qualifications:
- Knowledge of kitchen etiquette
- Able to work successfully with a diverse employee base team environment
- Ability to complete tasks quickly and efficiently
- Basic knowledge of knife handling and other cutting equipment with a desire to gain extensive knowledge of cutlery mastery
- Proper food handling and safety skills
- Proper knowledge of rotation and labeling
- Basic knowledge of Olivers recipes with a desire to learn
- Ability to multitask
- Proper knife handling skills
- Able to successfully independently as well as a part of a team
Position Requirements:
- 18 years +
- Understand and adhere to all Olivers and kitchen policies and procedures so as to handle food properly and safely
- Safety and Food Handling Certified
- Follow and uphold all OSHA safety regulations
- Complete required equipment training necessary to perform daily tasks
- Complete and maintain all proper dating and labeling for all prepped items
- Follow all labeling specifications for shelf life, quantity and product name
- Properly store product while possessing an understanding of F.I.F.O
- Complete tasks assigned in a timely manner
- Sanitize and clean and operate equipment when needed
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Must have a flexible schedule and able to work some weekends
- Follow and enforce all applicable State of California Health and Safety Codes
- Have a valid food handler certification through ServSafe or other ANSI compliant organization
- Able to work in a work environment typically between 3555 degrees Fahrenheit
- Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the position

- While performing the duty of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach, and occasionally crawl, squat, climb and kneel
- The employee must be able to bend and twist at waist and neck.
- The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and regularly lift up to 10 pounds while carrying dishes or deli equipment
- The employee must be able to reach above and below shoulders to access items in cabinets, shelves, display cases and on racks.
- The employee must be able to work around heavy kitchen equipment and machinery such as but not limited to: salad bar display, slicers, mixers, fryer, stoves, ovens, steamers and dishwashers
- The employee must be able to tolerate regular pushing, pulling, grasping, gripping and manipulation of hands and fingers in order to help prepare dishes, handle prepared foods, arrange food displays, storing product, dating and labeling prepped items and cleaning equipment
- The employee must be able to tolerate intermittent noise from kitchen equipment, over head fans, customers and overhead speakers
- The employee must be able to work with grains, fresh fruits, vegetables and nuts without suffering negative allergic consequences that impact performance
- The employee must be able to tolerate some work in extreme temperatures while working near chilled display cases, grill, ovens, stoves or dishwashers
- The employee must be able to tolerate moderate amounts of chemical fumes from cleaning agents
- The employee must wear gloves when using knives, slicer machinery, displaying prepped items and protective eyewear when using products to clean equipment
- The employee must wear non-slip shoes at all times
