Produce Clerk 3 (Full Time)

PRODUCE CLERK 3
SHIFTS:All Shifts (Complete Open Availability)-Weekends Required
SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing considerate, friendly, and efficient customer service while carrying out the daily responsibilities of the Produce Clerk 3 and meet the overall goals of the Produce department.Execute all tasks and roles related to processing perishable and non-perishable loads, rotate stock, and merchandise hard tables, price items as needed and maintain accurate signage.Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the displays and work area and provide up-to-date product knowledge to customers.
DUTIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provide excellent customer service; friendly, knowledgeable and able to communicate relevant product information to the customer
- Explain to the customer the difference between conventional and organic produce when needed
- Stock and demo product when needed
- Assist in building produce displays as well as moving and replacing displays as instructed
- Monitor and control spoilage
- Stocking produce on all displays in produce department
- Putting boxes of produce away in walk-in cooler
- Cleaning and maintaining an organized work area
- Assisting in maintaining proper signage
- Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENT
EDUCATION
- High school diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of one year retail grocery experience
- Previous produce department experience a plus
SKILLS
- Excellent customer service skills
- Outstanding attendance and punctuality with an ability to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the store, including nights and weekends as required
- General knowledge of seasonal produce
- General knowledge of produce including; seasonal, quality, variation and pricing
- Ability to safely operate electric/manual pallet jacket, hand trucks, six wheel carts and demonstrated proper use of knives
- Clear and effective communications skills
- Ability to work well with others and independently when needed
- Self motivated, self directed and able to multitask
- Detailed oriented
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to learn basic knowledge of all products carried in the produce department
- Ability to follow and enforce all applicable State of California Health and Safety Codes
