Meat Department Lead (Full Time)

This is a very handson job where you will learn new skills every day get ready to have some fun!
Position Overview: Butchers/Meat Cutters typically receive, inspect, and store meat, poultry and fish upon delivery. Responsible for all facets of butchering including, cut, bone, grind and prepare meats to specification. Also responsible for customer service when needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Advanced product knowledge
- Safe food handling and storage
- Safe use of sharp knives and meat saws
- Able to relate cooking ideas for product to customers
- Completion of a full butcher apprenticeship
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
Responsibilities & Qualifications:
- Perform all duties of a Meat Customer Service Clerk
- Break product (beef, pork, lamb and poultry)
- Butcher meat, poultry and fish
- Order product when requested
- Provide excellent and quality service to customers
- Capable of explaining various cooking techniques to customers
- Package, weigh, label and price product
- Properly rotate product in case
- Maintain overall appearance and replenish items in case as needed
- Follow established weights and measures procedures (TARES)
- Maintain both full and self-service counters
- Inventory product
- Proper use of equipment
- Maintain and clean equipment and work areas to maintain health and sanitation standards
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Able to follow instructions and procedures
- Must have basic knowledge of living conditions of animals and has the ability to educate the public on these issues
- Demonstrated ability in knife handling, other cutting equipment and safety procedures
- Adhere to all Olivers and meat department policies
- Follow and enforce all applicable State of California Health and Safety Codes
- Able to fulfill all physical requirements of the position
Physical requirements:

- While performing the duty of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach and use both hands to handle, finger or feel objects
- The employee must frequently talk or hear and reach with both hands and arms above and below the shoulder
- The employee is occasionally required to sit, squat, climb, crawl, or kneel
- The employee must be able to bend and twist at waist and neck.
- The employee must be able to use their fingers to operate a keyboard or mouse in order to make labels
- The employee must be able to have fine manipulation of fingers and hands while cutting
- The employee must occasionally lift and carry up to or over 85 pounds and regularly lift and carry up to 25 pounds for a distance of 520 feet
- The employee must be able to tolerate repetitive reaching, handling, grasping, pushing, pulling gripping and manipulation of hands and fingers in order to lift, package and display product
- The employee must be able to tolerate intermittent noise from equipment, grinder, meat saw and overhead speakers
- The employee must be able to operate heavy equipment and machinery such as but not limited to the meat saw and grinder
- The employee must be able to tolerate moderate amounts of blood from animal carcass THe employee must be able to tolerate the use of chemical fumes from cleaning products
- The employee must be able to occasionally tolerate extremes in temperature while in the freezer, refrigerator or using the grill
- The employee must appropriate safety and protective equipment and eyewear when using a knife or other cutting devices
- The employee must wear non-slip shoes at all times
