Bakery Customer Service (Part Time)
Location: Stony Point
Its all about customer service, lattes, smoothies, sweet treats and more! Create a diverse
selection of beverages, serve up desserts and ring up customer orders. This position requires
checker training, so be at least 18 years of age (21 years of age required for our Windsor
Bakery), have basic math skills and pass a simple codes test.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Great customer service skills
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to multitasks
- Keep front of the house appealing at all times;
- Ability to properly operate espresso machine, juicers, blenders, bread slicers and all other equipment required for food preparation and cleaning.
- Basic knowledge of bakery products with the ability and desire to acquire extensive knowledge of all products
- Entry-level position. Prior Caf experience preferred
- Some cash handling and register experience preferred.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:
- Provide excellent and quality customer service and ensure that all customers are being taken care of
- Ensure that the department looks great at all times
- Take regular and special orders
- Stock, rotate products, stocks supplies and paper goods; keep all utensils stocked
- Answer or find answers to customers questions
- Prepare brewed and espresso coffee drinks, juice and smoothie drinks accordingly to provided recipes
- Responsible for opening and closing duties as assigned
- Answer department phone calls and pages quickly with great phone etiquette
- Able to produce product in a timely manner
- Operate bakery cash register accurately and efficiently when needed
- Maintain proper and up to date signage in case
- Complete pricing and purchases while following established weights and measures procedures
- Accurately track spoiled and sampled product
- Sanitize and clean and operate equipment when needed: slice breads
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years +
- Able to learn proper use of and operate baler and all other equipment used during food preparation and clean up
- Demonstrated ability in knife handling, other cutting equipment and safety procedures
- Ability to properly stock and rotate product in freezer
- BeServe Safe Certified or complete Mindleaders certification
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers so as to answer their questions in a clear and service-oriented manner
- Able to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the store, including nights and weekends as required
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Stock, organize, rotate product, stock supplies such as but is not limited to: paper and plastic goods and all utensils
- Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness
- Maintain fresh products by rotating, restocking product on display as well as removing out-of-date products
- Follow and enforce all applicable State of California Health and Safety Codes
- Ability to perform physical requirements of position
Physical requirements:
- While performing the duty of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, squat, climb, reach and kneel.
- The employee must be able to bend and twist at waist and neck.
- Employee must be able to (occasionally remove)lift up to 50 pounds and regularly lift up to 15 pounds while carrying full coffee urns or cakes.
- The employee must be able to reach above and below shoulders to access items in cabinets.
- The employee must regularly use their fingers to operate a keyboard and count money.
- The employee must be able to tolerate regular pushing, pulling, grasping, gripping and manipulation of hands and fingers in order to prepare coffee, juice drinks, scoop ice creams and frozen fruits
- The employee must be able to tolerate intermittent noise from blenders, juicers, mixers, espresso machines and overhead speakers.
- The employee must be able to work with fresh fruits, vegetables and nuts without suffering negative allergic consequences that impact performance.
- The employee must be able to tolerate some work in extreme temperatures while working in the freezer.
- The employee must wear gloves when using knives or bread slicer
- The employee must wear non-slip shoes at all times
