Prepress Technician  (Full Time)
Location: Neenah, WI

Create production ready graphic files per customer, press, and internal manufacturing specifications for the purpose of making proofs and flexographic printing plates.

Essential Functions:

• Edit supplied files or create artwork files to meet customer expectations, press specifications, and production requirements.
• Collect, read, and understand provided information from the job ticket, instructions, notes, and email while questioning completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
• Utilize content management tools for retrieving and referencing images and files.
• Prepare files for digital, online, and analog proofing and printing devices.
• Must follow standard operating procedures and practices to ensure consistent and uniform quality of files.
• Ability to complete work accurately in a time-sensitive environment.
• Ability to work as a team player who enjoys a collaborative deadline-driven environment with a superior focus on detail.
• Preflight supplied files using appropriate software (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
• Perform manual file trapping in Adobe Illustrator CC.
• Perform quality control on other Prepress Technician work.
• Counsel and train less experienced Prepress Technicians on procedures and production methods.
• Perform intermediate job tasks for Esko proof and plate work with introductory CT editing.
• Regular attendance.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
• Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school) or Work Equivalent, Field of Study: Graphic Arts related field

Experience:

• 5 plus years of experience in prepress processes and systems

Computer Skills:

Introductory knowledge of Adobe InDesign CC software. Advanced knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator CC, and Esko AE Pilot software. Intermediate knowledge of Esko PackEdge, Color Engine software, Adobe Photoshop CC, and GMG Open Color with GMG ColorPlugin Packaging. Knowledge of both Mac & PC platforms and of font identification and software.

Other Requirements:

Advanced understanding of printing and/or packaging methods. Advanced understanding of flexographic printing and graphics. Intermediate understanding of color theory with flexographic printing. Ability to work in either CMYK or RGB color space, process grayscale images, and CMYK images. Ability to convert Adobe Illustrator design elements (vignettes, transparencies) to flexographic production ready files. Must provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States, pass pre-employment substance abuse screening, and applicable background verification(s).
