Purchasing and Inventory Manager  (Full Time)

This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to contribute to the continued success of a progressive and innovative organization. Our Purchasing and Inventory Manager is responsible for managing the activities of the Clubs purchasing and inventory control department and purchasing food, beverage, and supplies at the optimal price and delivery cycle while maintaining inventory levels.

Gross dollar volume of $21 million; food and beverage income of $5.2 million; guest room income of $1.6 million

125,000 square foot clubhouse, portions of which date to 1780, and were designed by Thomas Jefferson

40 overnight guest rooms used extensively by non-resident members

Food and beverage facilities: two a la carte dining rooms, four private dining rooms, a ballroom, two seasonal snack bars, and a food truck

Athletic facilities: 28 holes of golf; a new, state-of-the-art golf performance center; 15 outdoor tennis courts, 3 indoor tennis courts, and 3 paddle tennis courts; a swimming complex; a fitness center and locker rooms.

General Position Responsibilities

Develop and implement purchasing and inventory control procedures and sequence of operations within department to optimize work flow

Review inventory trends and discuss variations with appropriate staff members

Develop par levels in cooperation with department managers and maintain them based on business trends

With buyers, review market, price, delivery conditions, and trends to determine present and future material availability

Review bids and vendor quotes and negotiate contracts and standing orders within budgetary limitations

Work with outlet managers to select products and assure adherence to specified criteria

Provide information for menu costing

Candidate Qualifications

The Purchasing and Inventory Manager should have food and beverage purchasing experience, as a purchaser or a Chef, and demonstrated competency in the following areas of knowledge, skills and abilities:

Extensive knowledge of food and beverage industry terminology

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Excellent customer service skills and the ability to treat department managers as internal customers

Ability to provide guidance to department managers and foster collaboration with other departments

Professional ethics, tact, and courtesy in dealing with vendors

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations concurrently

Familiarity with P/C based software and financial spreadsheet systems

Experience using food and beverage purchasing software is a plus
