Position Overview

The Commercial Director will initially focus on identifying the market opportunity and closing new business for Optotraffics traffic safety enforcement services pursuant to the provisions in HB 978 which authorizes, in part, school zone photo speed enforcement. Additionally, the Director will identify the market opportunity and close new business for Optotraffics other enforcement services e.g. parking, slow down move over, over height trucks and vehicle impounding. As Optotraffics business grows the Commercial Director will be expected to hire additional personnel to service existing clients and close new business opportunities. This position will work with Optotraffics leadership, customer service, technical support and product development teams to meet client expectations. Presenting to and communicating with Councils, Mayors, Sheriffs and other client stakeholders as well as assisting with preparation of sample ordinances, contract negotiations, client training in the use of Optotraffics products and services, RFP responses and working with local legal and lobbying resources are essential to this role. The Commercial Director will form direct working relationships with local government and law enforcement officials in order to successfully manage complex client accounts.
This position reports to the Commercial General Manager - Eastern Region and requires interfacing with personnel from all Optotraffic departments including business development, executive management, information technology, manufacturing, legal and operations in order to perform effectively in this high profile role.

Requirements & Responsibilities

This position requires an individual who is self-motivated, persistent, confident, ethical, upbeat, and inquisitive and has an outgoing personality. The candidate must be effective at setting priorities and following through. The candidate should have effective interpersonal and seasoned leadership skills, be a team player and have the ability to address problems with a sense of urgency with an eye for detail. The position will also require travel throughout the state as well as occasional visits to Optotraffics Maryland headquarters.

Minimum Educational and Experience Requirements

Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice, Public Safety Leadership, or Management
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible, recent experience as a certified law enforcement officer and or higher ranking official with sworn and non-sworn subordinates. Leadership level experience is preferred. Experience with public relations, community relations, community-oriented policing is also preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Must maintain a valid Drivers License through the duration of employment
