Chemical Dependency Counselor II  (Full Time)

THE PROGRAM

Vista Hill Bridges Teen Recovery Center is designed for adolescents, ages 12 to 21, who are seeking to make the personal changes necessary to live a clean and sober productive life. The structured recovery services provide the individual with counseling and support components that include case management, individualized life-skill recovery plans, weekly group meetings, education, Live-Well pro-social activities, referral services, aftercare follow-up services, and ongoing family support services.

The program emphasis is upon developing the young persons ability to make positive choices to avoid further involvement with substance abuse and the juvenile justice system. We provide the adolescents and their families with the knowledge and necessary to help him or her to recover and to thrive.

THE POSITION

The Chemical Dependency Counselor II provides high quality alcohol and drug intakes, case management, counseling and outreach to individuals, groups and families and assists clients in developing sober socialization activities. This position is responsible for following and tracking drug testing and provides case management services for all assigned clients. The Chemical Dependency Counselor II participates in appropriate training and education programs on a regular basis to maintain professional skills and will also perform administrative tasks.

Tasks may include:

  • Must carry a full caseload.
  • Conduct and supervise educational groups, individuals, group process, and participate in all youth or age appropriate activities for all clients.
  • Conduct intake and assessments as needed. Develop treatment plans in collaboration with clients.
  • Assist families in understanding substance abuse.
  • Responsible for conducting relapse prevention groups, after care group, and discharge planning and continuity of care to ensure clients success in recovery.
  • Maintain accurate and timely record for each client including case notes, statistics, termination summaries and discharge plans.
  • Adhere to the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs (DADP) Counseling Certification Standards.

REQUIREMENTS

  • AA/BA in helping profession.
  • Must be AOD certified with State of CA.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working the AOD field.
  • Knowledge of the principles of chemical dependency treatment and recovery approaches and processes including, individual, family, and group counseling.
  • Knowledge of community health, welfare and social agencies.
  • Must be willing to participate in trainings for cultural competency, co-occurring disorders and CPR/First Aid.
  • Minimum of 5 years with no misuse or problems resulting from the use of drugs and/or alcohol.
  • Must be able to pass background clearance, drug screen and TB Test.
  • All licenses and certifications must be kept up to date, must have valid DL, insurance and transportation.


HOURS

40 hours per week.

PAY

Certified $18 per hour.
