PC 1000 Substance Use Disorder Counselor  (Part Time - no benefits)

THE PROGRAM

Vista Hill Bridges North Central Regional Recovery Center (RRC) provides nonresidential alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment and recovery services to Transition Age Youth (TAY) (18-25 y.o.), adults (26-59 y.o.) and older adults (60 y.o. and above) with alcohol and other drug-induced problems, including co-occurring mental health disorders. The Bridges RRC designed for adults seeking to make the personal changes necessary to live a clean & sober productive life. The structured treatment services provide the individual with counseling and support components that include case management services, individualized treatment and recovery plans, weekly group meetings & vocational assistance and aftercare follow-up services.

The program offers the recovery knowledge and tools to rebuild a healthy lifestyle. The programs required participation is based on assessment and includes an initial diagnostic assessment. Clinical staff includes a licensed and licensed eligible mental health clinician, certified drug and alcohol counselors, Vocational Counselor, Outreach Workers and a consulting psychiatrist.

Program services are offered in North Central San Diego Area.

THE POSITION

The PC 1000 Substance Use Disorder Counselor is responsible for alcohol and drug education and referral services in regard to the PC 1000 AOD education component of the regional recovery center. This position will work with high risk adult parole/probation populations. PC 1000 Substance Use Disorder Counselors provide clients with the information for necessary for clients to make healthy choices in regards to substance use. This position will cover programming when necessary and may be assigned additional duties if the need arises. Staff must be available to work schedules that may include day; evening and weekends to best meet the needs of the population served.

  • Facilitates AOD educational groups per PC 1000 guidelines, using effective and interactive teaching strategies to convey the material to clients.
  • Responsible for providing PC 1000 intakes and referrals, offering mandatory 1:1 sessions, along with keeping track and maintaining drug test results and documentation.
  • Must maintain relationships with outside agencies including the court, probation/parole, social services and community medical and mental health organizations.
  • Interact with clients on a day-to-day basis in an individual and/or group setting
  • Engaging in rehabilitation activities from time-to-time.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a certified chemical dependency counselor or working toward a recognized State of California Alcohol and Drug certification; CAADAC, CASS or similar professional certificate.
  • Bachelors degree in a human services field and/or have a Master's degree in related field & State of California Alcohol and Drug certification.
  • Must have two years of experience working with alcohol and drug related issues/addiction.
  • Must possess and in-depth knowledge of substance abuse treatment methodologies and diagnostic techniques, familiarity with San Diego substance abuse services system.
  • Must be able to work with culturally diverse population.
  • Must be free of parole/probation for at least one year.
  • Must have a valid California driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

HOURS

20 hours per week.

PAY

$16.50 per hour
