Environmental Scientist - Entry Level (Full Time)

We are looking for an entry-level environmental scientist to join the Natural Resources Group in our Richmond Virginia Office. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a growing discipline within a growing firm.

In this role, experience with linear projects in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and West Virginia is a plus. Tree inventory, wetland delineation, stream assessment, and ecological monitoring also a plus but not a requirement.

The role will include a mix of field and office time, natural resource assessments, technical document review, client interaction, agency coordination, report-writing, and state and federal permitting.

Requirements:

A Bachelors or Master’s degree in environmental science, or a related field with undergraduate curriculum that emphasizes ecology, botany, geology, and other natural resources disciplines
0-5 years of experience performing wetland delineations, stream assessments, and/or natural resources surveys.
Ability to work well on a team both leading and supporting assignments;
Independent research and problem solving abilities; and
Accomplished time management and outstanding oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

Preparing natural resource documents and permit applications for transportation projects;

Understanding of environmental regulations such as Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and National Environmental Policy Act;
Experience coordinating with local, state, and federal agencies to facilitate environmental review preferred;
