RK&K’s expertise is in transportation, traffic, transit/rail, structural, geotechnical, environmental, and water resources engineering; natural gas, petroleum and pipeline engineering; planning and cultural resources; construction management and inspection; hazardous waste; energy management; land and site development; natural resources; GIS, computer programming and graphic design; and surveys.

RK&K is looking for an entry-level Environmental Scientist to join the Natural Resources Group in our Baltimore headquarters. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a growing discipline within a growing firm. Our office headquarters are located in central Baltimore close to Interstate 83 with free on-site parking, and within walking distance of Penn Station and the Mount Royal Avenue light rail station.

 

The Environmental Scientist role will include a mix of field and office time conducting wetlands and forest assessments, document review, client interaction, agency coordination, report-writing, and state and federal permitting. We have a strong and diverse group of over 20 scientists in our Baltimore Office, and we collaborate closely in a team environment.

 

Minimum Requirements:

•             Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or equivalent (Master’s preferred)

•             Undergraduate/graduate curriculum that emphasized ecology, botany, and other natural resources disciplines

•             0 to 5 years relevant experience

•             Accomplished time management and communication skills

•             Team orientation

 

Candidates with internship and/or other directly related work experience will be given priority. Experience on linear projects in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia is desired; and forest stand delineation, wetland mitigation design, stream assessment, ecological monitoring, and GIS experience is a plus.

 

Candidates must be extremely motivated, and committed to a consulting career with project management responsibilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
