Health Care Maintenance Technician
Location: Cheshire

Elim Park is looking to hire a full time Maintenance Technician working 2nd shift 1-8:30pm

General Description: The position is accountable for providing skilled maintenance service throughout the Elim Park campus in order to meet the needs of the residents and staff to assure the building and equipment are in good repair.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Basic electrical and plumbing knowledge.

2. HVAC able to change heater filters-troubleshoot resident room heating problems, lubricate motors, bearings, adjust belts, etc.

3. Basic knowledge of carpentry- repair drywall, and door and lock problems.

4. Preventative maintenance service and inspection on all equipment and furnishings.

5. Ensures all work orders are completed in a timely and cost efficient manner.

6. Prepare and paint resident rooms and common areas.

7. Responds to maintenance issues and emergency situations and takes appropriate measures.

8. Participates in on-call rotation including weekends and holidays makes decisions and takes action to protect safety and welfare of residents.

9. Responsible for snow removal duties.

10. Install necessary appliances and equipment as needed.

11. Testing functionality of facility safety systems.

12. Coordinates with skilled tradesmen and/or vendors for the purpose of completing projects.

13. Ensures equipment and work areas are clean, safe and orderly.

14. Oversight and maintenance of swimming pool and whirlpool.

15. Performs all general maintenance tasks and other job related duties as directed by supervisor.

    Key Specifics for this Position:

1. Ability to work in a Healthcare Environment

2. Work on & repair Hospital type beds and other healthcare equipment

3. Patch & paint walls

4. Make daily/weekly/monthly rounds to ensure facility is up to standards and make repairs as needed

5. Responsible for servicing or replacing PTAC units

6. Ability to use hand and power tools proficiently

7. Follow written & verbal directions

Must be highly motivated and able to work alone

Work Area and Working Conditions:

• Entire Elim Park campus
• Standing, bending, walking inside and outside the campus
• Extreme temperature variations
• Stooping, kneeling, crouching
• Operate company truck with plow, golf cart, tractor, snow blower, power tools
• Occasionally subject to wet, damp, dark small spaces

Entry Level Qualifications:

• Valid CT drivers license
• High school diploma or GED- vocational specialized training
• At least two years prior experience in job related field
• Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating, carpentry and basic maintenance
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing.

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):

• Frequent Climbing stairs and ladders.

• Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.

• Stooping, kneeling, and crouching.

• Fine finger dexterity and eye hand coordination.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
