Manager, Media Relations  (Full Time)
Location: Washington DC

We seek a Manager to oversee all media relations for LeadingAge. The position will report to the Vice President of Communications and will collaborate regularly with the CEO, senior leaders and spokespeople, researchers and partners, and communications staff/advisors and consultants. The position is based in Washington, D.C. Some domestic travel will be required.In general the manager will:

he position requires a Bachelors degree in Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or Communications; and 5 years of related experience, including at least one year of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Masters degree preferred.

Success candidate must possess a portfolio of top-tier media placements for a public-facing organization or association; reliable media contacts in the greater Washington, DC area; strategic planning experience; and familiarity with online media software (e.g. Cision, Meltwater).

Other requirements include excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work as part of a cross functional team and independently; ability to foster cooperation and maintain effective relationships with staff, members, state association executives, and other key leaders and stakeholders; editorial planning; measuring and evaluating impact of communications campaigns; and, responding to opportunities and crises quickly and wisely.
