General Purpose:

Work with Director of Development to support overall development strategy. Manage the store-based Round Up campaigns and online donor engagement strategies. Work collaboratively with the Communications Department to achieve goals. Assist in the development of a Major Donor Program including prospect research, wealth analysis, tracking moves management, and development of collateral materials. Oversee daily development activities (prospect research, gift processing, database management, etc.) and assist in identifying and cultivating new financial resources for the advancement of Goodwill NYNJ and our mission. Assist in implementing new fundraising initiatives identified as strategic priorities.

Essential Functions:

Key Responsibilities:

o The Development Coordinator will be the key point person for managing Goodwills store-based Round Up Your Cents campaigns, which encourage shoppers to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar to support Goodwills mission. Tasks will include:

Collaborate with the Communications Department to develop and disseminate collateral materials pertaining to each of the 5 annual campaigns, and to stimulate related press and news stories

Collaborate with store District Managers to ensure proper distribution and implementation of campaigns in stores, including conducting store visits

Provide training and training materials to store employees for each campaign

Manage the employee incentive tracking and distribution process

Respond to store concerns/questions, including customer inquiries

o Spearhead online fundraising and engagement strategies:

Work with Director of Development to assess and grow online engagement and fundraising strategies

Maintain online and mobile donor communications (quarterly e-newsletter, text-to-give community, email housefile engagement campaigns, etc.)

Gather stories and content on a regular basis by working with the Communications Department and Program Departments

Research and present new and innovative online engagement strategies for consideration and implementation

o Grant Writing:

Assist in gathering information for, crafting, editing, and submitting public and private grant proposals and reports

o Major Donors:

Assist in maintaining major donor cultivation calendar, creating major donor and planned giving materials, and tailoring major donor communications

Provide specific assistance in cultivating and growing Junior Board

o Annual Appeal:

Assist in gathering stories and content for annual appeal letter and emails

Assist in annual appeal planning, list creation, and post-appeal analysis

o Fundraising Events:

Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events, including an annual Gala and other events throughout the year

o Oversee and Conduct Prospect Identification:

Supervise a Development Assistant who will conduct institutional and individual prospect research for general operating support, program-related support, and capacity-building support

Conduct more in-depth donor wealth and relationship analysis for Major Donor meetings

o Oversee Gift Processing and Acknowledgment

Supervise gift processing in The Raisers Edge 7 donor database, including maintenance/ongoing cleaning of donor database and mailing lists

Drive increased personalization of donor thank you letter process, including tailoring thank you letters to specific campaigns and showcasing thank you messages from program participants

o Participate in continual assessment of development functions and researching of new and innovative strategies for increased fundraising or process improvement

o Assist with other development functions as needed

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:

BA in English, Writing, Journalism, Communications, Media Relations, or related subject

Minimum 3 years previous experience in nonprofit fundraising

Knowledge of: The Raisers Edge 7 (preferred) or other CRM/donor database system; Email/Online engagement tools; Online research tools; Microsoft Office

Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills

Demonstrable organizational, professional, problem solving, customer service, administrative skills, and ability to work effectively on inter-agency projects

Ability to achieve outcomes with minimal supervision and as part of a multi-cultural team

Enthusiasm for the mission of Goodwill, and sensitivity to working with individuals of multiple abilities
