Mental Health Counselor (QMHP-Community Support)

Opportunity in: Arlington & Fairfax County, VA

Schedule: Days & Hours vary (40 hours/week)

Compensation: $17/hour

This is a position that provides community-based comprehensive, recovery oriented mental health skill building and supports to individuals. Candidate will work independently in the community to develop supportive relationships with adults with a wide range of psychiatric disorders, including co-occurring diagnosis. The supports provide skills building and training that promotes independence and normalcy in areas of basic living such as symptom management, engagement in psychiatric services, social skills, personal support systems, daily care of self, food preparation, budgeting and money management.

This position works independently under the direct supervision of the Program Manager performing a comprehensive array of services in the areas outlined below. This position will primarily be meeting with individuals in the Arlington and Fairfax, VA communities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains a diverse caseload of individuals with acute, chronic mental illness;
Provides skills building;
Implements therapeutic treatment plans;
Anticipates crisis potential both psychiatric and material, and connects with appropriate resources to prevent crisis;
Documents services provided and progress;
Collaborates with service professionals as participant as part of an Interdisciplinary Team (IDT);
Complete all documentation effectively, thoroughly, and in a timely manner. Maintain clinical and financial documentation in compliance with all relevant regulations and policies.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field
Required one (1) year of experience providing direct services to individuals with a mental illness.
