Relief Mental Health Counselor

Location(s): Residential (Arlington, VA), Skills Building (Arlington and Fairfax, VA), Crisis Stabilization (Alexandria, VA) and Targeted Case Management (Anne Arundel County, MD)

Hourly Pay: $15/hour

CR is seeking talented Mental Health Relief Staff to fill one or more of the above positions in an on-call capacity. The positions provide comprehensive, recovery oriented mental health supports to individuals. Candidates will support adults with a wide range of psychiatric disorders, including co-occurring diagnosis.

Mental Health Residential and Skills Building: provides residential supervision and/or and skills building services: symptom management, engagement in psychiatric services, social skills, personal support systems, daily care of self, food preparation, and budgeting and money management. Positions in residential programs or in the community.

Crisis Stabilization: intervention, supportive counseling, assessment, substance and suicidality monitoring, group and individual work

Targeted Case Management: connects individuals to resources and linkages to enhance community integration and advocates for assistance in securing appropriate services

The positions work independently. The counselors ensure documentation in accordance with CR and Medicaid standards for the services provided as well as maintaining such in a detailed electronic health records that meet state, local, and federal performance contract expectations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains a diverse caseload of individuals with acute, chronic mental illness;
Documents services provided and progress;
Collaborates with service professionals as participant as part of an Interdisciplinary Team (IDT);
Consults with professionals on a variety of needs including delivery of services for clinically complex cases;
Complete all documentation effectively, thoroughly, and in a timely manner. Maintain clinical and financial documentation in compliance with all relevant regulations and policies.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in a human services field and 1 year of experience working with individuals with chronic and persistent mental illness
Associate's degree or higher degree in an unrelated field and at least 3 years of experience providing services to individuals with a diagnosis of mental illness, gerontology or special needs.
