Staff Psychiatrist and Site Supervisor (Part Time)
Location: Olathe, KS
PURPOSE OFPOSITION
The primary purpose of this position is to provide 8 hours a week of psychiatric care for a designated 12-20 patients in KidsTLCs PRTF. In addition, this role will provide supervision to the University of Kansas child and adolescent psychiatric fellows rotating through KidsTLC.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Providing psychiatric care for 12-16 patients residing in KidsTLCs PRTF including the following:
- Performing a psychiatric evaluation upon admission including determining the patients initial list of psychiatric diagnoses and writing initial admission orders.
- Performing ongoing psychiatric follow-up visits weekly assessing at a minimum: any changes needed to the patients list of psychiatric diagnoses and any changes needed in the patients medical orders including medications and the patients safety status.
- Participate in weekly unit rounds, acting as the co-chair of rounds (along with any other prescribers in attendance) performing the following:
- Leading discussion on the patients that have been assigned to you.
- Considering perspectives from the entire treatment team in a collaborative fashion in helping to develop the patients treatment plan.
- Determining clearly to the team any changes in either safety status or medications.
- Participating in collaborative discussions on other patients on the unit when appropriate.
- Responding to urgent or emergent calls on the primary patients if necessary throughout the week.
- Communicating regularly with the caregivers and external providers of the assigned patients when appropriate.
- The above duties will be in the form of supervising a University of Kansas Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellow, if a fellow is currently in an active rotation at KidsTLC. If no fellow is present, the above duties will be performed directly by the psychiatric staff.
- Collaboration with the rest of the medical team, including attendance at team meetings and discussions with other members of the medical team when appropriate.
- Maintains accurate, timely, and confidential medical records of all patient and caregiver contacts.
- Demonstrates and ability to relate well with children, adolescents, families, and outside agency personnel.
- Represents the agency at outside meetings in a professional and favorable manner.
- Compliant with TLC all personnel policies.
- Demonstrates an ability to work well within the organization and on a multi-disciplinary team.
- Displays awareness of and adherence to the need for confidentiality as it relates to patients and staff.
- Demonstrates leadership abilities with other staff and patients.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Providing oversight and supervision of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellows rotating at KidsTLC.
- Adhering to the University of Kansas policies and procedures regarding fulfilling the duties of Site Supervisor for KidsTLC.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
- Certification in Psychiatry with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
- Active medical license in the state of Kansas.
- Willingness to attain adjunct faculty status through the University of Kansas.
- Commercial general liability insurance with limits of not less than $1,000,000 per occurrence and $3,000,000 in the annual aggregate.
