Safety & Security Specialist  (Full Time)

PURPOSE OFTHE SAFETY & SECURITY SPECIALIST

The Safety & Security Specialist is responsible for monitoring and providing safety and security of the Phoenix Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF). This includes monitoring all units for safety needs and responding to Care Facilitator calls for assistance. See the following paragraph for information on the duties and responsibilities of the Care Facilitator. Safety & Security Specialist will be acting as a liaison in verbal and communication requirements within PRTF.

PURPOSE OFTHE CARE FACILITATOR

The Care Facilitator is responsible for the coordination and care of the Phoenix Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) clients to ensure daily physical and emotional needs of the youth (ages 6-18) are fulfilled. This includes following established plans and activities, as well as creating activities to ensure effective education and developmental opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Assist in facilitating clients leaving and returning from Pass (getting pass notes, gathering belongings, getting meds, using wand, shoes and pockets, item inventory, and UDS to ensure a smooth experience for clients and their families.
• Answer phone calls made from the lobby vestibules.
• Respond to calls for assistance: Sole priority should not be to take over every interaction but to help make the situation as safe as possible, this can include participating in ratio and helping clear the area with other clients around, acting as an observer, and/or helping with a physical intervention.
• Spend 15-20 minutes on a unit at a time to get the feel for the unit and identify any possible needs the unit may need.
• Assist the Community Logistics Director with tasks that may be needed such as organizing/cleaning unit areas that have yet to be addressed, taking clients to appointments, and assisting in monthly safety drills.
• Assist management and other departments in communicating across campus including flier distribution and sharing information about upcoming meetings and trainings.
• Assist in making sure the cafeteria is safe by being a present during mealtimes.
• Check your email daily along with other forms of communication in order to have the most up to date information before working on the floor.
• Provide feedback and insight to PRTF teams about clients or incidents that occur.
• Each safety team member that has not been in ratio will tally up all interactions they were a part of at the end of each shift and complete a SST (Safety and Support Team) Worksheet and place it in designated tracking location.
• Ensure a visit to each unit at the end of closing shift and note if IRs or ESIs and compare this information with nursing in order to make sure that nothing was missed. If/when everything has been given the okay, send an email to PIMs, Safety Team and Medical.
• Act as a Back-up to the Care Facilitator role when necessary.
• Maintain and follow documentation and recordkeeping of clients and ensure quality standards and HIPAA obligations are met
• Accomplish and practice all required trainings including First Aid, CPR, P.A.C.E, ESPI and other state required trainings and standards

• This position has no supervisory responsibility

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent

College credit hours in social work, psychology, or a related mental health field from an accredited college, preferred.

Must be at least 21 years of age with valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

COGNITIVE DEMANDS

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have industry relevant software, other web-based software programs, and Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear. Some physical requirements in working with childreninclude the ability to physically hold youth utilizing Emergency Safety Physical Intervention (ESPI). The employee must have the ability to safely get down on knees and remain in position for up to 10 minutes, must have extreme flexibility to hold youth and switch positions while holding and the ability to lift, push and pull up to 40 pounds. ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY

Residential facility environment with typical noise level, fast paced. The hours of work this position are considered to be normal work week hours with some variances. The incumbent to this position must be flexible with the work schedule and expect schedule changes as required by agency needs.
