Patient Care Technician (PCT)  (PRN)
Location: Medical Center - 600 Medical Center Drive, Newton, KS, 67114

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN)/Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide quality care that is focused on the comfort and well-being of the patient and family. The PCT provides basic healthcare and support to patients in a manner that would lead to high levels of patient satisfaction. Other functions of the position may include monitor technician, activities of daily living and basic nursing procedures. The PCT functions as a member of the patient’s interdisciplinary team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required to be completed or already in progress.
  • Successful completion of the PCT certification course

Licensure and Certifications:

  • BLS required.
  • Certification as a PCT required within 120 days (on the job training provided)

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Participates in routine activities of patient care for the specific unit/department population.
  • Performs delegated care tasks in a timely, efficient manner and under the guidance of the RN/LPN
  • Contributes to continuity of care and effective communication by reporting care provided and changes in the patient's condition to the primary nurse or designee in a timely fashion.
