Production Engineering Project Manager  (Full Time)
Department: Engineering, Manufacturing - Experienced

POSITION SUMMARY:

Project Manager, Production Engineering is responsible for overseeing and managing projects within the Production Engineering department, ensuring seamless integration with manufacturing operations and driving continuous improvement. Performs engineering design evaluations and works to complete projects within budget and scheduling restraints. Reviews industry policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance. Reviews reports of production, malfunction, and maintenance to determine or address problems. Provides technical support for the engineering process. Collaborates with other engineering departments and coordinates their specialized contributions to the development of the project. Designs, implements, and communicates, an operational plan for completing the project. Monitors progress and performance against the project plan. Takes action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays. Identifies, develops, and gathers resources necessary to complete the project. Prepares engineering designs and work specifications. Develops project schedules, budgets, and forecasts. Selects materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Perform problem solving processes and design functions for all areas of manufacturing.  Research equipment purchasing and interface with vendors.  Act as liaison between design and manufacturing related departments.

          Project Planning and Execution: Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, defining scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements for production engineering initiatives.

          Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and research and development, to ensure effective project execution and             alignment with overall manufacturing goals.

          Resource Management: Efficiently allocate and manage resources, including personnel, budget, and equipment, to meet project goals and deadlines.

          Engineering Process Optimization: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within production engineering processes, optimizing efficiency, and ensuring the highest quality standards.

          Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks in project execution, ensuring proactive measures are taken to maintain project timelines and objectives.

          Performance Monitoring: Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor project performance, analyze data, and implement corrective actions as needed.

          Quality Assurance: Work closely with quality assurance teams to ensure that production engineering projects adhere to the established quality standards.

          Communication: Facilitate clear and effective communication within the production engineering team and across departments, providing regular updates on project status, challenges, and successes.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.  May be required to train and assist other employees.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

          Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus. PMP and related professional and industry certifications is preferred.

          7-10 plus years of proven experience as a Project Manager in a production engineering role, preferably within the aerospace industry.

          Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

          In-depth knowledge of production engineering processes, manufacturing methods, and quality assurance standards. Practical knowledge and experience using lean manufacturing principles.

          Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

          Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making.

          Interacts regularly with various staff and employees, and occasionally with vendors, suppliers, community members and regulatory agency representatives.

          Travel and overtime are required when necessary.
