Engineer, IPT - Airframe Design  (Full Time)

Engineer, IPT Airframe Design

POSITION SUMMARY:

Support the Airframe Design Lead Engineer and the overall product development Integrated Product Team (IPT) in the airframe design engineering discipline. This position will entail primary and secondary structural design aspects for integration into current and proposed new aircraft designs. The person filling this position will be required to produce CAD models, detail drawings, minor and major assembly drawings, and installation drawings, and may also involve general shop-floor and experimental hangar coordination for airframe design activities and support related to experimental and/or production articles.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Produce conceptual layouts, manual installation, and assembly design and detail drawings using Unigraphics / Siemens NX computer aided design (CAD)

Compose Engineering Orders (EO) to correct drafting/design errors, revise design, or incorporate changes/modifications to existing three dimensional models and drawings utilizing Unigraphics

Understand program requirements and create designs to fulfill the program requirements

Understand and prioritize design/drafting assignments and tasks to support published program schedules and timeline commitments

Coordinate design work with stress analysts, aerodynamics, manufacturing, supply management, and other team members

Review and validate installations and components through simulation, analysis, and on-aircraft installation fit-checks

Support production in the troubleshooting of assembly, installation, and operational problems

Participate in general IPT project meetings as required during the development of a specific project

Support the IPT in the preparation of material for presentation at design and program reviews

Perform other related duties as required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will not have any direct supervisory responsibilities


QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

Bachelor of Science in Engineering; preferably Mechanical or Aerospace, with 3-5 years of directly-related experience

General knowledge of all phases of aircraft design, approval, manufacturing, and service; including familiarity with all manufacturing processes and techniques relative to fabrication and assembly

Proficiency with 3D using Unigraphics / Siemens NX

Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite

Preferred:

An understanding and working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 23 and associated guidance material as it pertains to this technical discipline is preferred

Knowledge of ANSI 14.5 or GD&T practices preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

The employee must possess the ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers in both written and oral form
