Summary: Uses hands-on experience to work on crane and lifting equipment. Manufacturer training and in-house training will be an integral part of this position.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Has practical knowledge of Regulatory Compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations, CSE, Inc. Rules and Regulations and Site-Specific Rules and Regulations

a. Understands OSHA and DOT standards relating to transportation and fleet safety and that working safely is a job requirement

2. Assumes responsibility of organizing, planning and prioritizing work

a. Familiar with supervisory personnel, job activity to be performed, hazard communication program safety rules and regulations, and emergency action procedures.

b. Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive instructions.

3. Assumes responsibility of inspecting equipment, structures and/ or material

a. Responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on all makes of cranes and other equipment

b. Able to work with diagnostic equipment

c. Diagnoses, repairs, adjusts, and modifies components as needed

d. Reads, understands, and interprets operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings

e. Acts as a positive interface with service writers and customers

f. Prepares proper documentation of actions taken

g. Ensures that routine maintenance is performed n equipment per manufacturer's recommendations

h. Assists in the set-up and take-down of equipment

i. Able to operate complex construction equipment and operate hand and power tools

j. Coordinates with the maintenance staff to perform routine maintenance and repairs

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to meet CSE MVR driver criteria.

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Able to calculate load weight and select appropriate rigging.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
