Provides overall project direction for CSE’s Roanoke Industrial Division. They will oversee a portfolio of small to large-scale industrial construction projects from inception to completion while interfacing with construction professionals, cross-functional internal teams, and the client. The Project Manager will also develop new business opportunities with our preferred clients and work to improve the entire customer experience.

A successful project manager is a team leader who effectively measures, monitors, and controls all aspects of their projects to ensure these projects meet their established performance goals. Our PMs possess the soft skills required to work with the unique personalities present in the construction environment and overcome the challenges common on large construction projects.

Additionally, this position serves as a mentor who is actively and consciously involved in the continuous improvement of both safety and quality on our projects and within our company. They hold safety and quality in the highest regard and will drive the implementation of company’s safety and quality programs across all their projects.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Understands OSHA standards relating to industrial services and that working safely is job requirement; Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.
  2. Understands and complies with CSE, Inc. Safety Program, rules, regulations and updates.
  3. Serves as a primary point of contact for key customer accounts
  4. Builds and maintains strong, long-lasting client relationships and develops trusted advisor relationships with clients
  5. Aligns the timely and successful delivery of our solutions to customer needs and objectives
  6. Assists in the development of new business opportunities with existing clients
  7. Develops and implements a sound project execution plan for each project
  8. Identifies, analyzes, manages, and mitigates project risks
  9. Reviews & negotiates contract terms
  10. Coordinates with internal departments to include pre-construction, business development, safety, procurement, and AP/AR as well as clients, subcontractors, and key vendors to:
    • Develop and maintain a construction plan and schedule
    • Solicit & review vendor quotes & material
    • Develop subcontractor scopes of work and issue subcontracts
    • Develop & implement project-specific safety plans
    • Ensure that supplier and subcontractor invoices have been reviewed / approved and scheduled for payment per the contract documents
  1. Interacts with and provides oversite to field crews and subcontractors to assure they are meeting the safety and productivity goals of the project
  2. Monitors and implements effective change control to include identification of changes in scope, preparation of change order pricing, submission of potential change orders to customer, internal processing of approved change orders, and maintaining change order logs
  3. Forecasts and tracks key account metrics (to incl. budget & schedule) and monitors internal reports summarizing project status
  4. Develops recovery plans to bring metrics such safety, quality, budget, or production back to plan if necessary
  5. Participates in client and/or vendor meetings, as well as in-house meetings
  6. Ensures quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques and safety
  7. Performs other duties as assigned


Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages several subordinate supervisors who supervise 50+ employees in the Industrial Services Department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferably in a construction environment)

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, etc.


Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Intermediate-advanced level Microsoft Office and scheduling software skills.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Driver's License.                                                           

Other Qualifications: Must be able to travel. Must be available to work assigned schedules that may extended hours as needed (evenings, weekends, and holidays), which could include an occasional overnight.
