Typical Duties of the Nurse – LVN
CRF Behavioral Health Nurses are client-centered, compassionate, dedicated team members who want to make a difference in the lives of the people they serve. They embrace the opportunity to work side-by-side with their clients, helping to make lasting changes that will improve quality of life, health, and wellness. Our nurses are committed to providing excellence in psychiatric nursing care, while working in short-term acute residential treatment (START) programs, outpatient clinics, assertive community treatment (ACT) teams, and family services.
As a CRF nurse, you’ll be part of a team to provide assessments, help clients learn to manage their illness, provide encouragement and counseling as needed, and monitor/report any side effects of medications. You’ll be responsible for safely storing and handling medications and ensuring the proper documentation is completed. You’ll provide medication support services and case management to ensure optimal outcomes for your clients. You may provide First Aid as needed.
You won’t be wearing scrubs. You won’t be providing traditional bedside services. You will be part of a holistic, wrap-around service team that changes lives.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Must possess a current CA nursing license (LVN) and First Aid/CPR certification is required and must be kept current during employment
- Ability to physically and mentally assist in emergency situations is required
- Previous experience working with a mental health population, especially with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring disorders is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of County Health and Human Services requirements including documentation is preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, specifically Word and Excel
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment is essential
- Ability to pass criminal/background clearance and credentialing review.
