Hours: 40 hours per week; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm; Thursday 11:00 am - 7:00 pm.

Pay Rate: $34.00 to $36.00 per hour

Education: Master’s degree in a mental health-related field such as Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling required

Licensure: Licensed, license-eligible, or registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) required

As a Clinician - Crisis Intervention, you will:

  • In a client crisis situation, conduct risk assessment, call and meet with emergency responders to provide them with the pertinent information and handle all necessary paperwork (Tarasoff paperwork requirements, incident report requirements, etc).
  • Conduct initial behavioral health assessment of new clients and/or returning clients, if needed.
  • Work closely with various providers in the region or system to facilitate access to services for those identified as the target population to be served. 
  • Assist the client in developing a comprehensive, individualized crisis plan. 
  • Conduct initial screenings and walk-in services as needed and requested by direct supervisors.

Additional Qualification and Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with a mental health population, especially with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring disorders is strongly preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred, but not required
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office
  • Able to pass criminal/background clearance

South Bay Guidance Center is one of our Adult Outpatient programs (AOP), which provide behavioral health services including psychiatric and clinical assessment, treatment planning, ongoing medication services, individual and group counseling, case management, crisis intervention, mobile outreach, vocational support, peer support and older adult outreach. We deliver fully integrated services to adult clients diagnosed with a serious mental illness, as well as individuals with co-occurring, mental health, and substance use disorders.

All of our outpatient programs also provide full-time walk-in services. Our programs utilize evidence-based practices to assist our clients in reaching their goals and to live the highest quality of life while managing their mental illness.
