Senior Employee Relations Specialist – Central Office Operations
Hours: 40 hours per week; Monday - Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Program Overview:
Located at our Central office in the Mission Bay area, our Human Resources department provides comprehensive HR supports and guidance to CRF locations throughout San Diego. Our full-service team’s functions include employee relations, performance management, policy education, benefits, recruiting, leave management, accommodations, and HRIS management and metrics.
Typical Duties of the Senior Employee Relations Specialist
This position handles and supports the employee relations function for CRF under the supervision of the Employee Relations Manager.
Conducts and resolves investigations.
Handles complex employee relations issues such as interpersonal conflicts, safety concerns, employee privacy concerns, and communications with or about staff, and advises managers on these issues.
Works with employees and management to resolve employee issues quickly, effectively, legally, carefully balancing the needs of the business with the rights and satisfaction of employees.
Acts as the primary consultant for employees and managers for all leaves of absence and educates employees and managers on leaves; coordinates the administration of leaves with employees, managers, and Payroll and Benefits departments.
Handles requests for accommodations; educates employees and managers on accommodations; assists managers in completing undue hardship analysis and makes recommendations; works with managers to initiate and monitor accommodations over time.
Advises managers on performance concerns and makes recommendations about performance management including Performance Development Plans, disciplinary action, and termination.
Assists in development and presentation of formal and informal trainings to management and employees in areas such as performance management, sexual harassment and discrimination prevention, and employment law.
Assists in and backs up the workers’ compensation function for CRF.
Active member of the COVID Response Team.
Qualifications/Skills Requirement
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration/Management, Social Services/Counseling, or related field is strongly preferred, but additional experience may be substituted for a degree
A minimum of five years of Employee Relations experience
Extensive knowledge in:employee relations; performance management; legal compliance including wage and hour, LOA, and Accommodations
Working knowledge of benefits, payroll, workers’ compensation, and OSHA compliance
PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP strongly preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrates initiative, confidentiality, integrity, adaptability, quality and a results-orientated philosophy supporting the Organization’s mission while being helpful, cooperative, courteous and respectful.
Excellent written communications skills required
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Exceptional discretion and ability to maintain sensitive information and ensure confidentiality.
Reliable transportation is required to fulfill the essential functions of this position. A valid California driver’s license in good standing and proof of insurance are required for employees driving personal vehicles on company business.
Ability to pass criminal/background clearance
