The Nutrition Education Instructor (Instructor 2) will develop/organize and facilitate a nutrition education curriculum for individuals with various learning aptitudes. The Nutrition Education Instructor will work with various grant-funded systems to coordinate workshops, food demonstrations, and recipe reading seminars for partners (train-the-trainer), food distributors, and agency students and clients. They will provide program completers with certificates of completion and refer them to the Education and Career Services Department.
Essential Functions
Develop a work plan, maintain records, and provide necessary reports as requested and needed for program effectiveness and continued funding.
Facilitate group sessions utilizing existing curricula and program materials and provide leadership to educators in connecting with partners to facilitate efforts that enhance healthy food choices among adult and youth audiences.
Maintain proficiency in health, nutrition, food safety, and other topics directly related to program responsibilities.
Evaluate student/trainer’s success and effectiveness
Develop and maintain working partnerships with organizations providing education and services.
Develop and deliver educational programming in managing food resources, making healthy food choices, and handling food safely to adults, youth, and families in a variety of community settings, including classes, workshops, education events, newsletters, displays, and other methods, working with schools, agencies, and volunteers.
Network, communicate, and collaborate with service providers and other partners to assess the educational and community health needs of target audiences and identify suitable programs to address those needs.
Implement strategies that support and encourage healthy eating habits and physically active lifestyles.
Conduct program surveys and needs assessments to determine the direction and further development of educational programs.
Participate in the evaluation of program effectiveness.
Maintain an active record of student performance and growth. Research, develop, and implement culturally relevant instruction and materials to assist students with academic and professional skills development.
Prepare students for further education by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and persevere with challenging tasks.
Expose students to occupational training and careers, particularly for STEM-related activities, and help with work readiness training for students.
Must work in partnership with programmatic staff to ensure student's academic progress is guided by each student's Individual Success Plan (ISP).
Work with partners to coordinate other services
Observe and evaluate student's work to determine progress and make suggestions for improvement to the Project/Program Director. Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students.
Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs, abilities, and interests.

Pay range is $23.96- $31.21 per hr. DOE
