Senior Lab Phlebotomist/Trainer  (Full Time)

SouthCoast Health is looking for a Full-time Senior Lab Phlebotomist /Trainer

Responsible for completing laboratory procedures as ordered by physician. Obtaining appropriate specimens to meet testing requirements determined by specific laboratory guidelines utilizing aseptic technique, as well as OSHA bloodborne pathogen standards. Knowledge of OSHA and CLIA. Travels throughout the greater Savannah area to assist in other locations.

• Ability to exercise professionalism in dealing with all levels of personnel, patients and patients' families.
  
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  
• Knowledge of clinical laboratory procedures and practices, laboratory standards to evaluate department and recommend improvement.
• Knowledge of how to use laboratory equipment properly.
• Knowledge of laboratory regulatory requirements and safety procedures for the lab.
• Skill in proper collection of specimens, computer lab software and proper lab procedures and policies.
  

Responsibilities:

• Creates a caring and healing environment that keeps the patient and family at the center of care throughout their experience at SouthCoast.
• Properly identifies patient and appropriate patient care instructions. Performs venipuncture, and capillary punctures on patients. 
  
• Performs clinical testing on patients/specimens as needed.
• Knowledge of Point of Care testing using CLIA waived testing procedures.
• complies with OSHA standards.
• Performs daily maintenance, quality control, quality assurance, and sample analysis.
• Train other lab assistants on the proper lab procedures and protocols at trainee's designated location.
• Report to work on a regular and consistent basis.
• Performs or assists with non-clinical duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Education/ Experience:

High school graduate or equivalent. Prefer Associates Degree or Vocational School program for phlebotomy from an accredited college or technical school or equivalent experience. Prefer licensure, registry or certification, ASCP or equivalent. Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience as a Phlebotomist.

Requirements:

Current BLS/CPR certification. Travels on a regular basis to other laboratory locations in Chatham, Bryan, and Liberty counties.
