SouthCoast Health is looking for a Full-time Manager of Laboratory Services
Responsible for planning, organizing and directing all aspects of the laboratory department. Ensures provision of high quality services in compliance with department, clinic and third party requirements.
Qualifications:
- Ability to exercise professionalism in dealing with all levels of personnel, patients and patients' families.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Ability to evaluate utilization statistics and other data and make program recommendations.
- Knowledge of clinical laboratory procedures and practices, laboratory standards to evaluate department and recommend improvement.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to monitor quality control checks and determine needs and evaluate equipment for purchase
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Skill in providing guidance/instruction to staff and in establishing/maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and public..
Responsibilities:
- Creates a caring and healing environment that keeps the patient and family at the center of care throughout their experience at SouthCoast.
- Ensures compliance with facilities policies and procedures as well as governmental and accreditation regulations.
- Manages laboratory services in accordance with clinical and governmental standards and within established budget guidelines.
- Manage procurement activities, including vendor selection, purchasing, receiving, storage, and utilization of equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Performs clinical testing on patients/specimens as needed.
- Complies with OSHA & CLIA standards.
- Report to work on a regular and consistent basis.
- Performs or assists with non-clinical duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Education/ Experience:
Prefer bachelor's degree in medical technology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Health Administration or equivalent experience. Minimum of five years progressively responsible positions in laboratory along with experience with complex testing, including two years of supervisory experience.
Requirements:
Meet the requirements and successfully pass a national certification examination for Medical Technologist with an accredited certification agency such as ASCP, NCA, or AMT. Current BLS/CPR certification.
