Senior Geotechnical Engineer

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
AET is seeking an experienced geotechnical/geological engineering professional in our St. Paul, Minnesota office. The Senior Geotechnical Engineer manages coordinates projects with clients when specialized recommendations are needed to support the construction of roads, bridges, buildings, railways, oil/energy sites, and dams/levees. The Geotechnical Engineer will create project proposals, coordinate drilling and project schedules, interpret soil and rock borings, and prepare reports/recommendations for clients. We’re looking for a candidate that is a registered PE in MN (or able to obtain licensure within 3 months), has knowledge of the soils/bedrock of the upper Midwest, and has at least 10 years of engineering and client relationship management experience.

IN THIS JOB YOU WILL:
Manage simple to complex projects and direct a project team from initial authorization to completion including client interaction, work scheduling, interpreting implications of complex data, establishing and monitoring project budget, invoicing and quality control.
Perform engineering observations/judgments of geostructural activities, including jobs with a higher degree of difficulty.
Prepare formal geotechnical engineering reports, including recommendations.
Coordinate and assign staff to perform field testing.
Critically review, edit, and sign technical reports and correspondence of other staff.
Prepare proposals and perform marketing/business development duties to meet established department and company goals.
Assist in coaching and training junior staff and perform critical performance appraisals of Technicians and lower level Engineers.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geological (or related) Engineering with 10 or more years of related experience, OR;
Advanced degree in Civil (Geotechnical or related) Engineering with 8 or more years of related experience.
Professional Engineering registration in Minnesota, or ability to obtain within 3 months, and ability to obtain registration in other states as required.
Physically capable of the physical labor required, with personal protective equipment. Ability to occasionally move 50 to 100 pounds.
Maintain valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record and maintain compliance with DOT driver regulations
Ability to work at environmental remediation, industrial and construction sites and perform field work including, but not limited to, collecting samples, operating field instruments, following procedures, planning, organizing and arranging logistics for the job, and documenting field activities and data collected.
