Available Positions > Job Description Recreation: Special Needs Coordinator (Camp Button) (Seasonal) Special Needs Coordinator, Camp Button Parks & Recreation Department, Seasonal Summer Camp, up to 18 hours per week July 8th - August 16th, 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday Training Dates: July 2nd & July 3rd STARTING SALARY (through 6/30/24): $17.00 hour STARTING SALARY (effective 7/1/24): $17.50/hour POSITION RANGE (effective 7/1/24): $17.50 $18.50/hour POSITION OVERVIEW & REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The Special Needs Coordinator provides one-on-one/small group support, including personal care needs, for children with moderate to severe disabilities in a half-day summer camp setting. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and motivated to work with children and have experience involving individuals of varying abilities in a range of activities, and modifying activities to meet the needs of each camp attendee. This position is physical and requires you to be very active. Examples of physical activity include: participating in playground activities (kickball, tag, etc.), going waist deep in water, and playing indoor/outdoor games. The ability to stand for up to 30 minutes, be able to frequently lift, move, or hold children with a range of weight from 10-60 lbs. is required. The ability to lift, reach, squat, climb, and sit on the floor are required. Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies or unexpected situations while maintaining mental and physical alertness. Must possess good communication and customer service skills, as well as be flexible, passionate, high-energy, confident, and responsible.
