Recreation: Program Leader, Inclusion  (Part Time)
Location: Groton

PROGRAM LEADER, INCLUSION - PARKS & RECREATION

2-5 Hours Per Week

STARTING HOURLY RATE:

$15.00

POSITION RANGE:

$15.00 - $15.50 /HOUR

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Basic knowledge of working with individuals with special needs in a variety of recreational activities including sports, aquatics, social, art, games or other activities.  

JOB DUTIES:

The Inclusion Leader facilitates interactions between individuals with a disability and his/her peers, adapts activities so that the participant with a disability can participate in the activity.

Inclusion Leaders ensure the fullest participation possible by providing direct assistance to the individual with a disability allowing him/her to participate successfully in the program.

The Inclusion Leader fosters sensitivity awareness and provides recreational choice for assigned participants. Some leaders are assigned as "one-on-one" aides, but others may act as a "shadow" and step in to help the individual with a disability only when necessary.

Hours are assigned based on participant registrations. Successful candidates should be available select nights and weekends.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Basic knowledge of working with individuals with special needs.  Able to emphasize an individual's abilities, help participants build self-esteem, promote social interactions.  Experience working with children and people with disabilities is desired.  Valid motor vehicle operator's license preferred.
