The 988 Call Center is a crisis answering service that responds to calls, chats, and texts from individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use crises.

This call center is connected to the BH Link The states walk-in behavioral health crisis center that serves Rhode Islanders statewide. As such, 988 Crisis Counselors can assist service recipients in facilitating entry to BH Link, to be seen in person by an experienced clinical team that provides comprehensive assessment and referral services. The 988 Crisis Call Center also coordinates with local mobile crisis response teams, dispatching available mobile crisis clinicians to the community in order to meet people where they are. The services provided emphasize client-centered care in the least restrictive possible settings.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Working on site at the 988 Call Center in East Providence.
  • Answering calls, chats, and texts coming into the 988 Crisis Call Center, both through the 988 Lifeline and the 414-LINK line.
  • Engaging callers with empathy and professionalism to effectively establish clinical rapport in a brief period.
  • Routinely assessing for risk of suicidality (and other risks to safety) with callers experiencing mental health and/or substance use crises.
  • Identifying best outcomes, including the coordination of wellness checks and/or the dispatch of mobile crisis response teams.
  • Providing callers with resource and referral options as applicable.
  • Completing all required documentation and data collection in a timely fashion.
  • Coordinating directly with members of the BH Link clinical team as appropriate.
  • Coordinating with 911 dispatch and local municipalities as appropriate.
  • Documenting incident reports as necessary notifying call center supervisors in the case of any critical incident.
  • Attending required staff meetings and trainings.

Desired Skills:

  • The ability to answer crisis calls, chats, and texts with empathy and composure.
  • The capability of multitasking and transitioning between periods of low and high call/chat/text volume.
  • Utilize supervision and take feedback in order to continually grow and improve as a crisis counselor.
  • Strong communication skills that will lead to effective coordination of care both within and outside of the 988 Call Center.
  • The ability to effectively navigate digital platforms (the 988-answering platform, resource databases, electronic health records, etc.).
  • Multilingual staff are highly encouraged to apply.

Unique administrative opportunity available with Rhode Island's 988 crisis call center! The 988 call center is searching for a skilled Program Assistant who is excited to support our mission and growth!

The program serves as RI’s only 988 Lifeline Call Center whose counselors answer statewide calls, chats, and texts around the clock, offering warmline and crisis stabilization support to all ages.

The call center also collaborates directly with the BH Link, which provides an innovative 24/7 alternative to the emergency room for adults around RI who are in need of behavioral health crisis assessment and referral services.

The role of the Program Assistant is to provide administrative support to Rhode Island’s 988 Lifeline crisis call center and BH Link walk-in triage center, contributing to a positive program culture while helping to streamline effective administrative processes.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating incoming and outgoing mail and other correspondence.  
  • Representing the BH Link and 988 programs in relevant agency committees.  
  • Coordinating with maintenance and IT departments to submit necessary tickets.  
  • Supporting BH Link administrators in maintaining routine facilities needs.  
  • Support recruitment processes including scheduling interviews, completing reference checks, tracking applicants, and administrative onboarding of new employees.

Our 
Assertive Community Treatment Team is looking for a Case Manager who has experience working in the substance use and mental health field. You will be an integral part of our multidisciplinary team to help people avoid crisis situations and to keep crises from turning into unnecessary hospitalizations. ACT is designed to help those individuals who are struggling with serious and persistent mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders that may need more than the traditional outpatient mental health care and psychiatric rehabilitation more intensive services. As the Case Manager will provide comprehensive community support to those individuals living in their homes. Your role will be to help stabilize individuals by assessing and evaluating all clients on an ongoing basis, provide support services and/or crisis intervention as needed, develop, design and implement treatment goals/plan with the client to promote the individual's recovery. In addition, collaborate with community resources while promoting recovery, improving their mental health and rehabilitation. This is a full time position with benefits.

Education/Licensing Requirements:

  • BA/BSW in a human services related field required.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse and mental health is a plus.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record systems is preferred.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Floor Coverage

The BH Link Nurse Manager provides direct clinical coverage as needed to ensure safe, continuous, and high-quality care within a 24/7 crisis stabilization program.

  • Deliver hands-on nursing care during high census, staffing shortages, or increased acuity, including assessments, medication administration, and clinical monitoring.
  • Support triage and crisis response efforts, including management of complex or high-risk cases.
  • Provide real-time clinical supervision, ensuring adherence to documentation, medication safety, and evidence-based practice standards.

Position Summary:

To assist the Home Stabilization Coordinator in screening, assessing, and connecting unhoused/unstably housed individuals to Home Stabilization and other supportive services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree in a Human Services-related field preferred or a minimum of two years of relevant experience in the field.
  • Experience working with individuals who have co-occurring mental health and substance use issues.
  • Equivalent experience in case management and or housing.
  • Approved driving record with the ability to transport clients.
  • Experience with the Coordinated Entry System/Homeless Management Information System, or willing to learn.

An employee will assume full responsibility for the cost and efforts of maintaining all forms of licensure, certification, and credentialing documentation as required in their job description or cited on any Action Form as a qualification for hiring, job promotion, or monetary increase. Subsequently, the employee will adhere to the credentialing requirements of all insurance/funding sources for which they qualify and provide Human Resources and/or the Credentialing Specialist with the initial required documentation (licenses, liability insurance policies, DEA numbers, etc.) and all renewals of these documents thereafter.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Attend Anti-Oppression Training. Apply Anti-Oppression Training in your work.
  • Provide case management services to Home Stabilization Clients.
  • Obtain and maintain an HMIS license.
  • Outreach a minimum of 125 individuals per year.
  • Screen a minimum of 93 individuals for behavioral health needs and other social determinants of health.

  • Complete all required paperwork as part of the intake.
  • Create a culturally appropriate case plan for each individual, also focusing on the diverse intersectionality of oppressed subpopulations.
  • Maintain all required records related to services provided.
  • Provide transportation as needed.
  • Maintain a time allocation record

Position Summary:

Community Care Alliance is looking for a Clinical Supervisor to assist with Family Care Community Partnership (FCCP). Clinical Supervisor / Wraparound Coach is to oversee day-to-day operations regarding the service, personnel, data/reporting and accreditation components of the Family Care Community Partnership.

This position provides leadership in implementing high standards of family centered, strengths-based practice and is consistent with the larger agency mission of strengthening vulnerable families and our community.

Clinical Supervisor provides direct, weekly supervision to direct service staff. This includes:

  • Responsibility for oversight of Care Coordination & services provided to families/clients.

Position Summary

The GED Teacher for the Project LEARN Program provides high-quality, standards-based instruction to adult learners working toward their General Education Diploma (GED). Project LEARN offers free adult education services in a supportive and inclusive learning environment, helping students achieve their educational, career, and workplace goals.

This role delivers multi-level instruction aligned with Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Adult Education Standards and College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS), using best practices in adult education and learner-centered teaching. The GED Teacher collaborates with program staff to support student assessment, placement, goal setting, academic progress, and documentation. Instruction prepares students for the four official GED subject tests—Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies—administered at approved testing sites, while building the skills and confidence needed for postsecondary success and workforce readiness.

Responsibilities

1) Student Intake, Registration & Assessment

  • Participate in the student registration and intake process in collaboration with program staff.       
  • Administer appropriate CASAS assessments to determine academic functioning levels.       
  • Review assessment results and intake data to evaluate student needs and readiness.       
  • Consult with the instructional and program team to recommend appropriate class placement.       
  • Review intake materials for returning students to ensure continuity of services.

2) Instruction & Program Implementation

  •  Provide multi-level GED instruction aligned with RIDE Adult Education.       
  • Design and implement contextualized, learner-centered lessons that support academic and workplace readiness.       
  • Incorporate a variety of instructional strategies, including whole-group instruction, small groups, paired learning, one-on-one support, dialogue, and role-playing.

  • Administer required pre-tests and post-tests in compliance with program and RIDE guidelines.

  • Maintain individual student portfolios containing academic work samples and evidence of learning.       
  • Maintain organized student folders with formative assessments, learner goals, testing documentation, and related records.

  • Communicate timely updates regarding new intakes, attendance, testing, employment outcomes, and documentation.

Job Summary

The Human Resources Generalist provides administrative, operational, and programmatic support to the Human Resources department. Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources

  • HR Certifications are a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in HR principles and practices

Community Care Alliance is looking for a part-time (20 hours) Intake Clinician to join our dynamic behavioral health Emergency Services (ES) team. As a member of this team, you will provide intake assessments at our outpatient community behavioral health center in Woonsocket. This position is a critical part of CCA’s Open Access program which provides a centralized starting place where clients seeking behavioral health and substance use services are directed to the appropriate level of ongoing care.  

Duties would include meeting face to face with new clients seeking services, making referrals, providing limited clinical case management and follow-up services for identified clients, and assisting ES clinicians with phone screenings, community visits and crisis assessments when needed.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable of high acuity populations’ diagnostic and assessment criteria. Experience in the use of DSM 5 and knowledge of ASAM criteria is a must         
  • Computer skills are essential, experience working with an Electronic Health Record system (EHR) preferred         
  • Experience in Community Mental Health services         
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of trauma-informed care practices         
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and respect for differences in language, culture, socioeconomic status, gender identity, sexuality, and individuality of clients and colleagues

Education and Licensing requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in a human services related field, or RN with demonstrated experience in behavioral health

Community Care Alliance is seeking a part time certified peer specialist to work as a member of our 24/7 mobile crisis team. The certified peer specialist will work with a team consisting of a clinician, RN, case manager and community mental health worker and assist individuals who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis. This team responds to crises in the community and assists individuals with immediate access to an assessment and services. The role of the Peer Specialist is to interact with individuals seen and provide a bridge between providers and adults experiencing mental health and/or substance use issues.

The certified peer specialist should be an individual who has lived experience with substance abuse, a behavioral disorder or a mental health disorder who has made progress in their own recovery and has completed specialized training qualifying them to help others in their recovery. This individual should be comfortable honoring multiple pathways to recovery. The Peer Specialist will work as part of a team when providing crisis level of care. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work and communicate effectively and serve as a role model for peers, providing them with coping skills and connecting them to resources in the community. The ideal candidate will be readily able to engage in active supervision and be practice positive and healthy self-care.

Flexible schedule, days, may include evenings and some weekend coverage. 

Education/Skills: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Have successfully completed and passed a co- occurring Peer Specialist Training program endorsed by BHDDH and possess or be eligible for the IC/RC state certification.

The Adult Outpatient Program is seeking to hire a Licensed Chemical Dependency Professional or an individual with a Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling with extensive work in the field of addictions to provide individual counseling to adults struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders. The counselor will be expected to provide assessment, diagnosis, relapse prevention skills, psychoeducation and referrals to higher levels of care through use of Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy treatment modalities.

In addition to individual therapy, the counselor will be responsible for: completing session notes within 48 hours of service, completing treatment plans every 6 months, providing crisis management and referring clients to various community resources that will further help them improve their quality of life.

The ideal candidate has previous experience working/interning in the fields of mental health and/or addiction, is able to function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team as well as work autonomously and has a sincere desire to help the people we serve.

Community Care Alliance is looking for an Acute Services Outreach Specialist, someone who is passionate about connecting people suffering from substance use to treatment. We are looking for a "people person" who can also maintain strong professional boundaries, as most time will be spent in the community, including various CCA programs, outdoors, homeless encampments, and in various shelter/social service settings. This role will report directly to the IOP Program Director in the Acute Services Division.

You must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Must have a valid Driver's License and reliable transportation. An LCDP license is preferred, and working towards licensure is required, as this role requires substance use assessment and referral, as well as carrying a small caseload of clients who require interim services before admission into the proper ASAM level of care.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Seek out clients in the community, including encampments, to assess for substance use disorder. *Outreach is conducted in pairs for staff and client safety.
  • Provide community education around overdose prevention, the use of Narcan (Naloxone), including naloxone distribution.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with people in the community; building trust, offering real-time clinical assessment and treatment recommendations in real time, and following each case through for a warm handoff.
  • Maintaining a small caseload of clients as an interim provider. Interim services include utilizing interventions such as the SBIRT model, harm reduction therapy, and other evidence-based practices.
  • Prepared to initiate a referral into treatment at any time in the outreach process- this skill requires clinical discernment as the intervention type changes based on client readiness.
  • Works closely with CCA Emergency Services and other agency programs, including mobile crisis, BH Link, SUD Outpatient, Safe Haven, and the Serenity Center.
  • Attends meetings in the community as a representative of CCAs Substance Use Programming in the Acute Services Division
  • Transport clients to access needed resources, including treatment, basic needs, benefits/entitlements when needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date all clinical documentation according to state and federal regulations and CCA policy and procedure.

Registered Nurse Children's Behavioral Health (Full Time)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist individuals and families in the Children’s Behavioral Health Department maintain adequate physical health and gain an understanding of medical diagnosis(s) that are impacting daily functioning, as well as their mental health.

The Children’s Behavioral Health department delivers trauma-informed, client/family-centered, quality care to children and families.

JOB DUTIES/EXPECTATIONS:

  • Administer injections to individuals on psychotropic medications.
  • Coordinate with various pharmacies and Drs to ensure medication is ordered, filled and dispensed appropriately.
  • Engage individuals who are medically compromised to assist in coordination with medical providers and advocate for referrals to specialists or increased services (ie: such as CNA/HHA).
  • Meet with individuals, including parents of identified children, to provide psychoeducation on new and/or existing medical diagnosis(s).
  • Manage hospital alert system and coordinate with hospitals/inpatient facilities regarding any inpatient medical admissions for medically compromised clients.
  • Engage individuals in check-ins post medical hospitalization.
  • Assist high risk/medically compromised clients to medical appointments with specialists.
  • Complete nursing assessments with medically compromised individuals.
  • Facilitate various therapeutic and health focused groups.
  • Review medical screening form for children's behavioral health clients.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • An associate's degree in nursing with, at least, one year of experience working with individuals who have complex medical needs.
  • At least one year of experience working with children, youth and families, who have mental health, substance use or co-occurring disorders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with proof of RI minimum requirements of auto insurance (including a 100/300 K Rider) to utilize your automobile for work purposes.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to be a self-starter, attend to multiple tasks simultaneously, work with minimal supervision, and continually seeks new/better methods to organize/complete work.
  • Effectively accomplish duties by working with others, including team members, other CCA staff and/or outside agencies.

  • Ability to move within the building to meet with clients, team members or accessing supplies to attend to client needs.
  • Ability to transport clients and perform visits in the home and community.
  • Demonstrates competency in clinical/technical or administrative skills, procedures, methods, and tools required to perform the job successfully.

POSITION SUMMARY

This is counseling position is intended for applicants that hold an active LDCP and/or a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in the behavioral health/recovery field and working towards licensure. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a high school diploma.

  • LCDP, or must gain LCDP licensure within 6 months of hire.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

  • Provide direct services to assigned clients on a daily basis.

  • Complete and maintain appropriate reports and paperwork in conformance with state licensing regulations and agency policies.
  • Attend a minimum of weekly clinical supervision and in-service trainings as required.

  • Maintain all records in accordance with State, Federal and Agency requirements.
  • As necessary, will provide and/or coordinate services for clients in a fashion that is consistent with the utilization of the 12 core functions of a substance abuse professional.

  • Act as a liaison between other community resources and CCA.

The per diem position plays a critical role in providing shift coverage. You will be expected to travel between our sites in Pawtucket, Johnston, and Providence depending on staffing need.
