The 988 Crisis Call Center at BH Link is hiring professionals who are looking to make a positive impact on the lives of Rhode Island community members! The 988 Call Center is a crisis answering service that responds to calls, chats, and texts from individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use crises.

This call center is connected to the BH Link The states walk-in behavioral health crisis center that serves Rhode Islanders statewide. As such, 988 Crisis Counselors can assist service recipients in facilitating entry to BH Link, to be seen in person by an experienced clinical team that provides comprehensive assessment and referral services. The 988 Crisis Call Center also coordinates with local mobile crisis response teams, dispatching available mobile crisis clinicians to the community in order to meet people where they are. The services provided emphasize client-centered care in the least restrictive possible settings.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Working on site at the 988 Call Center in East Providence.
  • Answering calls, chats, and texts coming into the 988 Crisis Call Center, both through the 988 Lifeline and the 414-LINK line.
  • Engaging callers with empathy and professionalism to effectively establish clinical rapport in a brief period.
  • Routinely assessing for risk of suicidality (and other risks to safety) with callers experiencing mental health and/or substance use crises.
  • Identifying best outcomes, including the coordination of wellness checks and/or the dispatch of mobile crisis response teams.
  • Providing callers with resource and referral options as applicable.
  • Completing all required documentation and data collection in a timely fashion.
  • Coordinating directly with members of the BH Link clinical team as appropriate.
  • Coordinating with 911 dispatch and local municipalities as appropriate.
  • Documenting incident reports as necessary notifying call center supervisors in the case of any critical incident.
  • Attending required staff meetings and trainings.

Desired Skills:

  • The ability to answer crisis calls, chats, and texts with empathy and composure.
  • The capability of multitasking and transitioning between periods of low and high call/chat/text volume.
  • Utilize supervision and take feedback in order to continually grow and improve as a crisis counselor.
  • Strong communication skills that will lead to effective coordination of care both within and outside of the 988 Call Center.
  • The ability to effectively navigate digital platforms (the 988-answering platform, resource databases, electronic health records, etc.).
  • Multilingual staff are highly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 Years in the human services industry preferred.
  • Fluency in multiple languages preferred.

The Acute Stabilization Counselor is an integral part of our Acute Stabilization Unit (ASU) in Providence. This crisis service and hospital diversion or step-down program provides a relaxing, protected, and supervised non-hospital setting to individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use crises.

You will work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team providing individual supportive counseling, biopsychosocial assessments, and group treatment services to identified clients. You will utilize holistic and evidence-based modalities and will receive extensive training in these areas. You will receive supervision to work toward licensure (LCDP). The right candidate will have experience working with and treating individuals with co-occurring disorders and challenges to their basic needs. Must have a minimum of six months of community mental health experience.


Education and Licensing Requirements: 
Bachelor's degree in social work, Psychology, or other human services-related disciplines required. LCDP preferred and can be substituted for a degree.

The unit's nurses are responsible for:

  • Assessing, monitoring, and documenting the psychiatric and medical needs of clients, and consulting with providers as needed

  • Providing crisis intervention, milieu management, and health education as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team

  • Conducting assessments

  • Reconciling and ordering medications

Our men's residential program needs a Behavioral Health Worker to provide case management services to the residents at Wilson House. At Wilson House, the men have the opportunity to focus completely on recovery from chemical dependency in a home-like atmosphere. In this position, you will assess and evaluate clients on an ongoing basis by providing support services and/or crisis intervention as needed.

Duties include:

  • Assisting clients in medication monitoring and education, maintaining client records, and assisting in facilitating activities with clients, which enhance the quality of living within the residence.
  • Some of these activities may include: maintenance and/or cleaning of the residence, cooking meals, and daily ADL skills.
  • Candidates must also have an approved driving record with the ability to transport clients.

Our Acute Stabilization Unit (ASU) in Providence is looking for a 1st shift (36 hours per week)Behavioral Health Worker (BHW).Our innovative, holistic, trauma-informed inpatient program for substance use and mental health disorders, located in the heart of Providence, is the first of its kind.

The BHW is a dynamic, fast-paced, and team-oriented role. This is a front-line position with a high degree of client interaction, from admissions to safety checks to recreational and therapeutic activities.

An ideal candidate:

  • Is detail-oriented, self-motivated, curious, and eager to learn.
  • Maintains appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with and receive supervision and training from nurses, counselors, case managers, and prescribers.
  • Ensures client safety and satisfaction. Flexible schedules available: can discuss upon interview.
  • Promotes client recovery, understands the impact of trauma, prioritizes client safety, and responds to client emergencies or crises with support.
  • Transporting clients to/from the Acute Stabilization Unit
  • Maintain ASU vehicle to include: weekly vehicle inspections; reporting issues/needed maintenance to supervisor/ASU leadership; maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle, etc.

Education/Licensing Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED required. CNA, associate degree in human services-related field, or attending school for same preferred; can substitute with 2 years' experience in a healthcare setting.

Valid Drivers License and proof of auto liability coverage.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Available to cover clinical program needs on a regular or on-call basis.
  • Help to assist all clients in navigating their current crisis and the behavioral healthcare system through consultation, assessment, and referral.
  • Conduct mental status exam and client-centered clinical assessment.
  • Determine appropriate diagnoses based on DSM-5.

The BH Link provides an innovative 24/7 alternative to the emergency room for adults around RI who are in need of behavioral health crisis assessment and referral services. The role of the Registered Nurse is to perform screening, crisis-focused assessment, administer medication, and medically monitor clients of BH Link.    

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Engage in screening and risk assessment processes to identify appropriate levels of care and crisis interventions.
  • Facilitate triage and safety assessment aligned with program policy and client-centered readiness.
  • Assess and monitor the psychiatric and medical needs of clients seeking treatment.
  • Perform medication administration, medication reconciliation and collaborate with prescribers and local pharmacy service, as indicated.
  • Administer substance detoxification protocols utilizing CIWA and COWS assessment tools and facilitating initiation of protocol medication management.
  • Coordinate service delivery with daytime and on-call psychiatric prescribers.
  • Complete documentation per BH Link protocols.
  • Coordinate admissions with referral sources and engage in interagency, interdisciplinary coordination of care. Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and patient-centered advocacy.
  • Facilitate infectious disease precautions per program policy.
  • Facilitate community naloxone distribution and client education for emergency naloxone use.
  • Provide emergency medical interventions, as needed. Activate and collaborate with local EMS.

Position Summary:

 

To assist the Director of Supported Housing in identifying clients in need of housing and improving their access to safe affordable housing. To provide and/or coordinate services for clients in accordance with the utilization of the 12 core functions of substance abuse professionals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Community Care Alliance is looking for a part-time master's level clinician, QMHP certification preferred, to work in a new cutting-edge program responding to crisis in the surrounding community. In this position you would have the opportunity to be working with an innovative team including, the program director, law enforcement, case managers, peer specialists and community mental health workers. This type of community based crisis triage is the new frontier of responding to mental health and substance use crises. This rapid response team would be an elite team of individuals working collaboratively with the intent to manage a crisis in the community, provide rapid resources for stabilization and to develop community connections with the intent to decrease the need for an emergency room intervention and an inpatient admission.

Education /Licensing requirements/ Skills: 

MA with experience in behavioral health, will train for the Qualified Mental Health Professional license needed to complete emergency certifications. In this position you will be competitively compensated, must have excellent crisis intervention skills, be able to perform emergency certifications when necessary and a minimum of one year employment in community mental health, Crisis Stabilization Unit, or an inpatient psychiatric setting. Ability to diagnosis using the DSM 5 criteria. Must be able to address crisis issues & help to stabilize families, as well as safety-planning when needed, as well as ongoing monitoring for child safety and risk factors. The FCCP is strength based and family driven, with the Care Coordinator conducting a strengths-based, culturally competent family needs assessment. Home Stabilization- Housing Navigator (Full Time)

 

To assist the Home Stabilization Coordinator in screening, assessing, and connecting unhoused/unstably housed individuals to Home Stabilization and other supportive services.  

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Human Services related field preferred or minimum of two years of relevant experience in the field. 
  • Experience working with individuals who have co-occurring mental health and substance use issues.
  • Equivalent experience in case management and or housing.   
  • Approved driving record with ability to transport clients.
  • Experience with the Coordinated Entry System/Homeless Management Information System or willing to learn.
  • Employee will assume full responsibilities for the cost and efforts of maintaining all forms of licensure, certification, and credentialing documentation as required in their job description or sited on any Action Form as a qualification for hiring, job promotion, or monetary increase. Subsequently, the employee will adhere to the credentialing requirements of all insurance/funding sources for which they qualify and provide Human Resources and/or the Credentialing Specialist with the initial required documentation (licenses, liability insurance policies, DEA numbers etc.) and all renewals of these documents thereafter.

Primary Functions:

  • Attend Anti-Oppression Training.  Apply Anti-Oppression Training in your work.
  • Provide case management services to Home Stabilization Clients.
  • Obtain and maintain an HMIS license.
  • Outreach a minimum of 125 individuals per year.
  • Screen a minimum of 93 individuals for behavioral health needs and other social determinants of health.
  • Deliver services in a manner that increases access to services for people of all racial/ethnic/marginalized groups in the community.
  • Screen a minimum of 5 individuals at risk of eviction. These will be brought to CCA's attention by the Property Manager via regularly scheduled meeting.
  • Enroll 60% (3) of those at risk of eviction in behavioral health treatment.
  • Enroll unhoused individuals into the Homeless Information Management System (HMIS), completing a Crisis Assessment and Housing Assessment and maintaining their active status as long as they remain unhoused.
  • Complete all required paperwork as part of the intake.
  • Create a culturally appropriate case plan for each individual, also focusing on diverse intersectionality of oppressed sub populations.
  • Maintain all required records related to services provided.
  • Provide transportation as needed.
  • Maintain time allocation record
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse team to achieve goals.
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
  • Maintain all Agency records in accordance with Agency, State and Federal requirements.

Position Summary

This position is based in a drop-in center for youth ages 12-25 from diverse backgrounds and experiences. We are in need of a dynamic individual who is passionate about working with this age group and youth facing significant challenges. This individual works closely with the Director, Manager, staff, and clients to ensure the smooth operation of all HYC programming through a trauma-informed lens.

Responsibilities

1)  Data Support:  Take the lead on supporting staff with data collection, entry, and reporting in accordance with contractual obligations. 

Supporting Actions: Become familiar with all program funding contracts and their expected outcomes, and ensure that all outcome reports and databases are being managed correctly by appropriate staff. Ensure that responsible staff are entering relevant data correctly and on time. Generate reports, graphs, charts, etc. when requested. Distribute requested information to other staff as appropriate and follow up as needed to ensure responses are completed accurately and on time. Supervise all data-relevant activities and duties with staff, assist in database training when needed, and familiarize yourself with all databases and outcomes required in the department.

2)  Drop-in Center Support:  Support the daily operations of the Harbour Youth Center by assisting with Drop-in Center operations

Supporting Actions:  Be present and actively engaged in the Drop-in Center activities during peak after-school hours.  Assist with admitting youth, completing the Intake process, and engaging in whatever activities are offered during this time.  Identify youth who in need of additional support and meet with them one on one to identify issues and assist youth to resolve these issues.  When additional support is needed, connect with families and make appropriate referrals both within CCA and external providers, following through to successful connection. 

3)   Crisis intervention and de-escalation:

Supporting Actions: Support the Director, Manager, and staff to intervene in any crisis situations that may arise with youth. Be able to screen youth for safety and connect youth with appropriate emergency services depending on the severity of the situation and the youth’s mental well-being. Support their families to communicate with any internal or external mental health providers in which a youth may currently be receiving services. Deliver interventions in a trauma-informed and as holistic a manner as possible by offering wrap-around services to youth and their families.

Education and Experience:

Demonstrated educational background or work experience with both youth and data management.  1- 2 years minimum.

·       Bi-lingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.

Mobile Crisis Peer Specialist (Part time; 16 hours)

 Pay Rate: $24.83/hr

Community Care Alliance is seeking a part time certified peer specialist to work as a member of our 24/7 mobile crisis team. The certified peer specialist will work with a team consisting of a clinician, RN, case manager and community mental health worker and assist individuals who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis. This team responds to crises in the community and assists individuals with immediate access to an assessment and services. The role of the Peer Specialist is to interact with individuals seen and provide a bridge between providers and adults experiencing mental health and/or substance use issues.

The certified peer specialist should be an individual who has lived experience with substance abuse, a behavioral disorder or a mental health disorder who has made progress in their own recovery and has completed specialized training qualifying them to help others in their recovery. Community Care Alliance is looking for an Acute Services Outreach Specialist, someone who is passionate about connecting people suffering from substance use to treatment. We are looking for a "people person" who can also maintain strong professional boundaries, as most time will be spent in the community, including various CCA programs, outdoors, homeless encampments, and in various shelter/social service settings. This role will report directly to the IOP Program Director in the Acute Services Division.

You must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Must have a valid Driver's License and reliable transportationAn LCDP license is preferred, and working towards licensure is required, as this role requires substance use assessment and referral, as well as carrying a small caseload of clients who require interim services before admission into the proper ASAM level of care. 

 

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Seek out clients in the community, including encampments, to assess for substance use disorder. *Outreach is conducted in pairs for staff and client safety.
  • Provide community education around overdose prevention, the use of Narcan (Naloxone), including naloxone distribution.     
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with people in the community; building trust, offering real-time clinical assessment and treatment recommendations in real time, and following each case through for a “warm handoff”. 
  • Maintaining a small caseload of clients as an interim provider. Interim services include utilizing interventions such as the SBIRT model, harm reduction therapy, and other evidence-based practices.  
  • Prepared to initiate a referral into treatment at any time in the outreach process- this skill requires clinical discernment as the intervention type changes based on client readiness.       
  • Works closely with CCA Emergency Services and other agency programs, including mobile crisis, BH Link, SUD Outpatient, Safe Haven, and the Serenity Center.     
  • Attends meetings in the community as a representative of CCA’s Substance Use Programming in the Acute Services Division     
  • Transport clients to access needed resources, including treatment, basic needs, benefits/entitlements when needed.       
  • Maintain up-to-date all clinical documentation according to state and federal regulations and CCA policy and procedure.

Update Current Living Situation and Housing assessment in HMIS (Homeless Information System), confirm and maintain program data.  Perform Home Stabilization Intake paperwork and Medicaid Authorization stabilize their living situation and/or assist them to transition into permanent supported housing opportunities.  Act as referral source for social services.

 

  •  Schedule and attend regular case management meetings with program participants.        
  • Complete intake paperwork, as needed, ensuring all required documentation is received and filed.        
  • Complete current living situations, housing assessments in HMIS.        
  • Maintain all required data for services provided in HMIS, and Smartsheet.        
  • Make referrals to other appropriate services to address any support needs or barriers to housing.

JOB DUTIES/EXPECTATIONS:

  • Administer injections to individuals on psychotropic medications.
  • Coordinate with various pharmacies and Drs to ensure medication is ordered, filled and dispensed appropriately.
  • Engage individuals who are medically compromised to assist in coordination with medical providers and advocate for referrals to specialists or increased services (ie: such as CNA/HHA).
  • Meet with individuals, including parents of identified children, to provide psychoeducation on new and/or existing medical diagnosis(s).
  • Manage hospital alert system and coordinate with hospitals/inpatient facilities regarding any inpatient medical admissions for medically compromised clients.
  • Engage individuals in check-ins post medical hospitalization.
  • Assist high risk/medically compromised clients to medical appointments with specialists.
  • Complete nursing assessments with medically compromised individuals.
  • Facilitate various therapeutic and health focused groups.
  • Review medical screening form for children's behavioral health clients.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • An associate's degree in nursing with, at least, one year of experience working with individuals who have complex medical needs.
  • At least one year of experience working with children, youth and families, who have mental health, substance use or co-occurring disorders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with proof of RI minimum requirements of auto insurance (including a 100/300 K Rider) to utilize your automobile for work purposes.

Community Care Alliance’s Social Health Services division is actively seeking a compassionate and skilled Clinician to join our RISEN (Rhode Island Systems, Engagement, and Navigation) Program.
The RISEN Program is designed to stabilize individuals who are at risk or currently experiencing homelessness by connecting them to critical housing, behavioral health, and supportive services. Grounded in the Housing First model, RISEN emphasizes person-centered care to promote long-term housing stability and recovery.

Position Summary:

Coordinate with local housing authorities, shelters, community outreach programs, and other entities serving unhoused/unstably housed to connect to Home Stabilization/other services (e.g., behavioral, basic needs, medical, legal, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Independently licensed clinician - LICSW, LMHC, Master's level LCDP
  • Experience working with individuals who have co-occurring mental health and substance use issues, as well as housing instability/homelessness.
  • The employee will assume full responsibility for the cost and efforts of maintaining all forms of licensure, certification, and credentialing documentation as required in their job description or cited on any Action Form as a qualification for hiring, job promotion, or monetary increase. Subsequently, the employee will adhere to the credentialing requirements of all insurance/funding sources for which they qualify and provide Human Resources and/or the Credentialing Specialist with the initial required documentation (licenses, liability insurance policies, DEA numbers, etc.) and all renewals of these documents thereafter.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Attend Anti-Oppression Training.  Apply Anti-Oppression Training in your work.
  • Obtain and maintain an HMIS license.
  • Support the Housing Navigator/Case Manager in performing their responsibilities.  
  • Conduct screening and assessment of individuals' behavioral health needs.
  • Determine readiness for change and use Motivational Interviewing to provide stage-matched interventions.
  • Support individuals to access the appropriate level of behavioral health treatment, including but not limited to outpatient, community-based, detox, inpatient, residential care, and crisis triage.
  • For those engaged in behavioral health treatment, support individuals to adhere to recommendations.
  • Connect individuals to recovery supports in the community, including recovery housing as appropriate
  • Complete all required paperwork in HMIS and the Electronic Health Record.
  • Work with the Housing Care Manager to create a culturally appropriate case plan for each individual, also focusing on diverse intersectionality of oppressed sub populations.
  • Provide transportation as needed.
  • Maintain a time allocation record
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse team to achieve goals.
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
  • Maintain all Agency records under Agency, State, and Federal requirements.

"We are seeking a compassionately dynamic Mobile Outreach Specialist to join our team!  The Mobile Outreach team welcomes people with lived experience who are mission-driven to support individuals in active substance use and often co-occurring mental illness and homelessness through Harm Reduction efforts.  We are out in the northern RI community, serving individuals in Woonsocket, North Smithfield, Burrillville, Cumberland, and Lincoln.  Work closely with our drop-in center.  We are seeking someone who is a team player as well as a self-starter. Being able to navigate a large volume of people while still providing one-on-one help and communication to our people is a plus. Bilingual/multilingual is not required but preferred."

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide peer support to our homeless, housing unstable, substance use, and recovery clients primarily in the community, as well as in our Safe Haven drop-in center. Evaluate and assist with clients' needs and barriers. Ensure program adherence to all relevant licensing, funding, and accreditation standards. Participate in ongoing training and participation in any agency-wide efforts. Preference to bi-lingual/multi-lingual individuals. Other responsibilities are as follows:

Shelter Relief Staff (Per Diem)

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Ensure general safety and structure of the shelter by monitoring resident activities as they pertain to shelter rules and policies.
  • Additionally, ensure general safety of the residents by ensuring the building structure is properly cared for and maintained.
  • Maintain general operation of the shelter, sober house, and supportive housing apartments during non-business hours by being available to clients as needed/requested.
  • Complete 3X circuits of the property and shelter floors for each shift and record in log
  • Record clients coming in after curfew.
  • Monitor front desk and phone.
  • Maintain required logs such as laundry money, medication, maintenance, guest sign in and any other required log.
  • Provide crisis intervention with the assistance of on call staff.
  • Respond to resident concerns (provide concern form if needed).
  • Record all incidents on a typed incident form as required.
  • Attend required trainings.
  • Handle all client information confidentially and with respect.
  • Perform all shift cleaning and maintenance chores.
  • Maintain a clear walkway between both houses in inclement weather and clear walkways and ramps as needed for safety- should be clear at end of shift.
  • Any duties as assigned by supervisory staff.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED:

High School diploma or equivalency. Experience in related field preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to climb stairs to the third floor, valid driver’s license.

Substance Use Disorder Specialist (30 Hours)  (Part Time)
Location: Woonsocket, RI

Substance Use Disorder Specialist(30 Hours) 

Community Care Alliance is hiring an Emergency Services (ES) substance use disorder specialist (SUDS). ES is an interdisciplinary team of skilled and experienced behavioral health professionals. They respondto a variety of client crises in office- and community-based settings. In addition to ES work, the SUDS counselor will work with clients in our ambulatory detox and substance use outpatient programs. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, creative, and nimble in responding to crisis situations, and will maintain an anti-oppression, non-stigmatizing approach while working with high-acuity, complex clients. This is a weekday position, and the supervisor will create a set schedule with input from the candidate. 

Essential qualifications:  

  • Proven ability to assess and intervene with clients in crisis 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of trauma-informed care practices and the 12 core functions of a licensed chemical dependency professional (LCDP) 
  • Comfort and familiarity working within larger systems (e.g., with clients, families, hospitals and other providers, law enforcement and first responders,and with other community partners)  
  • Proficiency with recovery planning, overdose prevention, harm reduction, and relapse prevention planning  
  • Familiarity with stages of change and with Motivational Interviewing and other evidence-based approaches 

Core functions: 

  • Crisis intervention and de-escalation 
  • Completing assessments in office and community-based settings  
  • Maintaining a caseload of approximately 5-10 short-term, outpatient clients 
  • Providing counseling to clients in ambulatory detox level of care 

Education and licensing requirements: 

  • Valid LCDP, licensed to practice in Rhode Island 
  • Valid driver’s license required

Substance Use Specialist - IHH  (Full Time)

If you are a Substance Use or Co-Occurring Clinician looking to be part of a team, then we have a position for you in our Community Support Program. We are recruiting for a qualified individual to provide assessment, counseling, relapse prevention, case management, education, and group substance use treatment to adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
The Substance Use Specialist works as part of a multidisciplinary team, which strives to help individuals achieve their goals in a recovery-focused environment. Services are provided to individuals in a variety of settings, including their home, the agency, the community, as well as other treatment settings.
Candidate should demonstrate high-level skills in engaging individuals, knowledge of a variety of psychotherapy techniques and modalities, multicultural awareness, ability to work independently, and as part of a collaborative team. Candidate should also demonstrate knowledge of relevant ethical and confidentiality guidelines in behavioral health practice, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices/evidence-based practices in behavioral health care.
Preferred experience in community behavioral health services, use of electronic health records, and strong computer skills. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
We also provide a significant amount of no-cost trainings annually to help you maintain and recertify your CADC/LCDP.

Education/License Requirements:

  • LCDP, CADC, Principal Counselor, Counselor, LICSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMHC- A*, LMFT, LMFT-A
  • Must have minimum of an AA degree with an LCDP
  • Must have a valid driver's license and current vehicle insurance.
