IT Admininstrator I (FT) - Syracuse
B&L is seeking a resourceful, self-motivated IT Administrator for a new full-time position to meet our growing IT needs. Candidates must have at least 1-2 years experience in a computer support environment including extensive computer desktop skills, and thorough knowledge of computer hardware, MS Windows operating systems, and MS Office applications. A 2-year degree in Computer/Information Technology or related field is required, as is technical certification in at least one of the following areas: A+, Network+, Microsoft Office Specialist, and/or MCITP.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills, the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing technical environment, and excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with a variety of personalities and a range of computer abilities.
Responsibilities include: • Install desktop software and conduct updates • Set-up and install PC equipment • Serve as a member of the Help Desk Support Team, supporting 200 employees in 5 locations, as well as field sites • Provide Microsoft Office support • Conduct printer maintenance and provide printer support • Monitor and track software licensing • Maintain IT equipment inventory records • Serve as intranet administrator • Provide end-user IT training • Set-up, train, and document use of audiovisual equipment • Manage company cell phones (troubleshooting, contracts, etc.).

Sr. Level Electrical Engineer (Power) (FT) - Syracuse
B&L is presently in search of a dynamic, self-motivated electrical engineer for a position in our Syracuse office. Responsibilities as a member of the Facilities Group include engineering design, client communications, and project coordination and oversight with other electrical, mechanical and structural engineers. Applicants should have 5-10 years of electrical engineering experience with a desired emphasis in the following areas: medium voltage power systems design; protection/coordination; overhead line design; electrical distribution; emergency/distributed power generation; and lighting, controls, telemetry, alarm systems, and telecommunications for municipal, commercial, private and industrial clients.
At a minimum, candidates should have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Position requires proficient technical writing and communication skills, and familiarity with consulting engineering. Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in NY (or eligibility to obtain) is desired.

Construction Administration/Inspection Personnel (Seasonal FT) - Multiple locations
B&L has openings for full-time Resident Engineer (NICET IV) and Construction Inspector (NICET II and/or III) positions for the 2010 construction season. We are seeking administration/inspection staff for transportation projects in the Hudson Valley, the North Country, the Southern Tier, and in Western NY. The ideal candidates will have highway/bridge/paving/drainage inspection experience. Knowledge of NYSDOT specifications is required. Basic computer skills are necessary to utilize construction software programs. Recent Public Works, NYS Thruway, and DOT retirees are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities include:
• Inspect and document daily construction activities
• Prepare daily diary/inspection reports and weekly progress reports
• Measure quantities of materials used and work performed
• Prepare/assist in preparation of monthly payment requests
• Review claims for extra work and change order costs
• Assist in coordination of utilities
• Interpret contract plans and specifications
• Assist in coordination between the owner, contractor(s) and government agencies
